Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers lost 17-14 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home in their second preseason game. As happened in their first matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, most starters, including Aaron Rodgers, did not play.

The head coach has opted for this approach of resting the veterans and the star newcomers, keeping in mind the highly anticipated Week 1 game against Justin Fields and the New York Jets. Tomlin has repeatedly stated that he believes many of his players are ready without needing to take the field in the preseason.

However, a key point for the Steelers on their path to the Super Bowl is the depth of the roster. This has been a weak spot for Pittsburgh in recent seasons when the inevitable impact of injuries hits.

Who is injured with Steelers?

Mike Tomlin confirmed that Nick Herbig, Christian Kuntz, and Gareth Warren are injured following the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The most concerning case was Herbig, who left the game due to a hamstring issue, but according to the head coach, the linebacker should not have any problems.

ā€œFrom a health standpoint, Christian Kuntz had a chest injury that’s being evaluated. Garreth Warren is being evaluated for a concussion and then we’ve got some other bumps and bruises associated with play.ā€
