Mike Tomlin confirmed that the Pittsburgh Steelers are looking for a quarterback and that, as rumored, Aaron Rodgers is one of the options. However, if that doesnât materialize, the head coach seems comfortable with Mason Rudolphâs return.
âObviously, weâre still evaluating the acquisition of a guy at that position, whether itâs free agency or the draft. So, weâre doing our due diligence communicating with some free agents and also preparing for the draft. Weâre optimistic about the room that weâre constructing. Obviously, weâre excited about having Mason Rudolph back. Our knowledge of him not only as a player, but as a man. Itâs exciting to have him back, but certainly weâre going to continue to explore all our options in terms of rounding that room out.â
The Steelers havenât won a Super Bowl in over 16 years, and Rodgers could be the missing piece to make it happen. Additionally, the veteran could serve as the ideal bridge quarterback while they find their future franchise player in the draft.
Did Steelers sign Aaron Rodgers?
No. The Steelers havenât signed Aaron Rodgers, but during the annual ownersâ meeting in Florida, Mike Tomlin expressed optimism about the information he gathered from the quarterbackâs recent visit to Pittsburgh.
The big problem is that Rodgers still hasnât made a final decision, as he could be waiting for a call from the Minnesota Vikings in the coming months. Because of this, the Steelers are in complete uncertainty and currently without a starting quarterback.
