To say that Le’Veon Bell’s best years are far behind me could be an understatement, especially given how poorly the NFL treats veteran running backs. Even so, he’d be a massive upgrade over some of the team’s current bell-cow backs right now.

The New York Jets released Bell after he failed to make a significant impact and struggled with countless injuries since signing with them as a free agent after holding out from his deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

However, it’s hard to effectively or objectively judge Bell’s performances with the Jets given the fact that the team has been a disaster from top to bottom, so even if he’s lost some of his lateral quickness, he never truly had a chance to get anything going.

Bell is likely going to be pursuit by several teams after 5 weeks of football. So if he’s still interested in playing and is willing to accept a massive pay cut, he’s a guy to keep an eye on for the next couple of days. Here, we’ll show you the 3 best destinations for him.

3. Chicago Bears

This one seems like a bit of a no-brainer. The Bears are somehow 4-1 but that’s not exactly thanks to their offense. However, Nick Foles is clearly better suited to run the show, and adding a solid threat on the ground would certainly take some pressure off of his shoulders.

Tarik Cohen is out with a knee injury and David Montgomery has been far from effective. The Bears have a strong chance to make the playoffs and wouldn’t need to spend much money to lure Bell to Soldier Field.

2. Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are the most likely candidate to win the AFC Eastand it would be just poetic to see Bell joining a division rival, especially considering they still have to face off one time this season.

Zack Moss has been slightly better than Devin Singletary but neither of them has represented a legit threat on the ground. Bell could either put some pressure on them to finally break out or even take the job as their featured three-down back. The Bills are for real this time, guys.

1. New England Patriots

And last, but not least, we’ve already seen this happening countless times. Bill Belichick is a master at picking up someone else’s disposals and making the most of them, and there’s no reason to think that couldn’t be the case with Bell.

The Patriots’ running-back committee has been unpredictable for years. They lack a bell-cow running back that could make a consistent impact between the tackles. Every time there’s something up for grabs, we can be sure that Belichick is looming around.
