Ben Roethlisberger isn’t so sure that trading Minkah Fitzpatrick for Jalen Ramsey was the best move by the Pittsburgh Steelers. On his podcast Footbahlin, Big Ben warned that losing locker room leaders like the safety is a risky move.
“It feels like you’re losing a lot of the Steelers cultural guys that are in there and that know what it is. You’re bringing guys in that are one-year guys in here. Maybe two-year guys. They know about the Steelers logo, but they don’t really know it. It’s not branded in their chest. It’s not Yellowstoned on their chest.”
It’s important to remember that, in their pursuit of a Super Bowl, the Steelers have let go of several starters, including Najee Harris, George Pickens, Russell Wilson, Van Jefferson, Dan Moore, and Fitzpatrick.
Who did the Steelers sign?
On the other hand, the Steelers have overhauled their roster by signing big names like Aaron Rodgers, DK Metcalf, Kenneth Gainwell, Robert Woods, Jonnu Smith, Darius Slay, and now the arrival of Jalen Ramsey. Roethlisberger seemed very intrigued by that trade with the Dolphins.
“It’s an interesting move. Obviously, they were ready to move on. They felt like they were going to get enough for him. As great as Jalen Ramsey is, they must feel comfortable with what they have at safety. I don’t how much safety Ramsey actually plays. Jonnu Smith, that might be the bigger deal. He’s a special talent. He can open up the field. A wide receiver playing tight end kind of guy. It could be something pretty cool.”
