The Pittsburgh Steelers have always been regarded as an immaculate franchise in the NFL. For the last 18 years, head coach Mike Tomlin has been the cornerstone of the team’s culture. A Super Bowl winner and famous for never having a losing record, Tomlin’s reputation was very well regarded. However, a recent report might change that.
CBS Sports’ Aditi Kinkhabwala recently dropped a bomb on Pittsburgh’s 93.7 The Fan radio show. “There are many, many, many former players that I have spoken to that have bitten their tongues about their experience with [Tomlin],” Kinkhabwala said.
This comes as a shock, as Tomlin has always been hugely respected across the NFL. However, you have to take this with a grain of salt as the reports are all over the place. Reporter Gerry Dulac said “When the Steelers and Mike Tomlin go their own ways, it’s gonna be up to Mike Tomlin.” As for other reports, Steelers Depot says the franchise is “out of patience” after not winning a playoff game since 2018.
Tomlin gets along with a key player though
While some players may or may not like Mike Tomlin, one thing is for sure: Aaron Rodgers does. Even before they were both on the same team, they always had respect for each other.
Reports say that Tomlin was instrumental for Rodgers to come in. This means they have something that is key for any team’s success: good chemistry in the quarterback-head coach duo.

The big debt is the playoffs
Even if a Super Bowl ring is already on Tomlin’s resume, it was a long time ago. Going 0-5 in your last five trips to the postseason is not what you’d expect from a team that never goes under .500.
With all the moves the Steelers have done this offseason, the target is clear: win playoff football. Whether Tomlin and Rodgers can do it remains to be seen, but the intentions are as clear as day.
