Itâs been said over and over that the Dallas Cowboys are a poorly-run organization. Itâs been like that for years, as the team pretty much does whatever its owner Jerry Jones says regardless of anything else.
Thatâs why Jason Garrett wasnât fired before. Thatâs why they didnât keep Dez Bryant or DeMarco Murray, and thatâs why they couldnât sign a contract extension with Dak Prescott before he suffered that gruesome injury.
Nonetheless, some people around the NFL expect Jones to be way less patient with new coach Mike McCarthy, whose job has left a lot to be desired for Americaâs Team. In fact, some speculate McCarthy could be a âone-and-doneâ.
Jerry Jones Weighs In On The Rumors About Mike McCarthyâs Future
Thatâs why the often-controversial and outspoken executive didnât hesitate to shut that narrative down, having his coachesâ back and claiming that heâs yet to have any kind of discussion of conversation regarding the early termination of their business relationship:
âNot one time, not one time have I been in any discussion, had any dream, been sitting by myself, have I given a thought to anything but Mike McCarthy being our coach next year, and being our coach in the future,â Jones said on his radio show.
âHow in the hell something like that could get going with a conversation with Stephen or anybody else about whether McCarthy is going to be the coach or not is ridiculous,â he concluded.
Then again, weâve already heard these kinds of things and executives still fire their underperforming coaches anyway, and McCarthy has done little to help his case even before Prescottâs injury.
At the end of the day, the Cowboys need to do a deep soul searching if they want to go back to being that dominant team they once were, and maybe McCarthy isnât the right guy to lead them to the top.
