Many things have changed in Barcelona since Xavi Hernandez took over. First, it was the mood at the club. Shortly after that, the team started to get results in La Liga. Eventually, the Catalans alsostrengthened their roster.

This summer, the front office made a big effort to make stellar signings, but it’s fair to say that the new coach deserves credit for their arrivals. Robert Lewandowski, for instance, suggested that Xavi had a lot to do in his decision to leave Bayern for Barca.

The 42-year-old knows the club in and out, and the way he turned Barcelonaaround gave him authority to make big decisions. Xavi may also have the future of a club legend in his hands, according to a report.

Barcelona legend could become free agent if Xavi doesn’t field him enough

Mundo Deportivo claims that Gerard Pique could become a free agent in 2023 if he doesn’t take part in at least 35% of the games in the 2022-23 season. It’s hard to predict if that will be the case, but the outlook is not good.

The veteran defender has dropped in the pecking order, making only eight appearances this term – starting only once, against Cadiz. Pique, 35, is running from behind of Andreas Christensen, Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia, and Ronald Araujo.

Moreover, it’s been a long time since theSpanish center-back made headlines because of his performances. Instead, he has drawn media attention because of a controversial breakup with Shakira.

On top of that, Pique has reportedly complained about his lack of playing time recently, something that didn’t sit well with Xavi. There’s still a long way to go this season, but if we had to guess, it doesn’t look like his situation will change anytime soon.
