Paris Saint-Germain is Lionel Messi’s new home, as the player has signed a contract with the club for two years. The agreement has been welcomed by PSG fans, and it seems like it’s already paying off for the French club if its Instagram followers increase can be a signal.

The deal between the sides was quickly done after Barcelona made it official that the Argentinian couldn’t stay with them due to financial problems and La Liga’s salary cap. However, those problems are in Messi’s past who said he’s very happy with his new club.

While Lionel Messi has been very important for Barcelona and its history, by his own he has a huge crowd of loyal fans, who are going to follow him everywhere he goes. Quite, literally. Not only on social media, but also in real life, as the crowded streets of Paris can tell.

PSG Instagram followers increase: Messi boosts the numbers

While some Twitter users claimed that after Lionel Messi’s arrival in PSG the club’s Instagram page has seen growth of almost 20 million people, that is not true. However, there is some considerable growth but not that much.

According to Newsweek, using data from CrowdTangle, over the last week (August 4 to August 11), the account gained 5.65 million of followers. However, by the time of writing this article, it has already gained 1,2 million more (6.85 million in total). Currently, PSG’s Instagram account has 44,2 million followers.
