PSG won 2-1 against Lyonfor Ligue 1 on the day of Lionel Messis debut at the Parc des Princes. While the Argentinian had several chances to score, including a free-kick that ended up in the crossbar, he couldn’t send the ball into the net in the 75 minutes he played before being subbed.

In the first half, PSG dominated the game and the possesion of the ball. Messi had good combinations with Angel Di María and Kylian Mbappé. He could score at least on two occasions: first with a free-kick that hit the crossbar and then, after receiving a ball from Neymar, in the area.

However, it was Lyon who scored first in the second half thanks to a goal by Lucas Paquetá in the 45th minute. Neymar made it 1-1 in the 60th minute from the penalty spot. Then, Pochettino decided to sub Messi and Di María for Hakimi and Mauro Icardi, who scored the 2-1 at the end (93rd minute).

While at the end PSG won the match, many fans on Twitter couldn’t understand Pochettino’s decision to remove him with the game being 1-1. Messi wasn’t too happy either, and he refused to salute Pochettino afterwards.

PSG, on the other hand, remains unbeaten in the Ligue 1. They are at the top of the standings with 18 points of 18 possible. Also, Neymar scored his first goal of the season. Meanwhile, fans still await Lionel Messi’s first goal with his new club. Check the funniest memes and reactions:
