Emma Raducanu will receive help by former British No. 1 Jeremy Bates at Indian Wells 2021

Emma Raducanu, US Open 2021 champion, will be assisted by former British player, who came to be the country's number 1 on three occasions, during her run at Indian Wells 2021.

Emma Raducanu is enjoying her moment as a recent Grand Slam champion.The 18 year-old has been having the time of her life after crowning herself at the US Open 2021, attending movie premieres and the Met Gala. But it’s time to go back to the courts, and she will do so at the Indian Wells 2021. With a new member on her team.

After winning the US Open, Raducanu received a wild-card to compete at this year’s BNP Paribas Open main draw, which will start on Wednesday October 6. It will be her first tennis tournament in three weeks and her winning in New York, so it will be interesting to see how she handles her new status.

While she shocked everyone after parting ways with her former coach Andrew Richardson after her unexpected success at Flushing Meadows. The champion said that she’s looking for someone who has more experience on the WTA tour to help her navigate through the professional competition.

Emma Raducanu at Indian Wells: Is Jeremy Bates her new coach?

During the weekend before the start of Indian Wells 2021, Raducanu was seen practising with Jeremy Bates, the head of national women’s tennis for the LTA. He’s also the coach of Katie Boulter, who lost her match at the qualifyings.

Per The Guardian, Bates has confirmed he will also be helping Raducanu. For now, the arrangement is temporary. It’s not expected that Raducanu will confirm a permanent coach before the end of the year. Until now, it’s been speculated that Darren Cahil, former coach of Simona Halep, could be the indicated to work with Raducanu.

After Indian Wells, the British will play in the Kremlin Cup in Moscow and the Transylvania Open în Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Raducanu has also entered November’s Upper Austria Ladies Linz tournament.
