“In hindsight, like we talked about, the kid is a fucking baller, man. I’m so happy for him,” Adams told Raiders teammate Maxx Crosby on his podcast. “I haven’t had the chance to truly sit down and talk with him, but I want to tell him at some point ‘I definitely don’t regret changing, but I’m super proud of what you’ve done. The excutive added that this is a long process that’s not exempt of risks, which is why they’re going to take their time. Still, they feel pretty confident about him and their ability to get a deal done: 



“In every contract extension, draft pick decision you make, there’s a ton of risk and all that. It’s just part of it,” Gutekunst said. “At the same time, I think the nice thing about having a guy in your building for the last four years is you absolutely know who he is. Again, there’s no guarantees [of] anything going forward. But we know how he’s going to respond, how he’s going to react, how he’s going to work.”

While this move made sense from a football standpoint, as he’s three years younger than Jones, some questioned the length and big money they gave him, as they signed him to a four-year deal worth a whopping $48 million.

“Per a source with knowledge of the deal, the contract has a $12.5 million signing bonus, and no other guaranteed payments,” wrote Florio. “His 2024 base salary of $1.2 million is guaranteed as a practical matter, pushing the first-year haul to $13.7 million. He also has a $600,000 offseason workout bonus, and up to $500,000 in per-game active roster bonuses. That’s up to $14.8 million for one year. After that, it’s up to the Packers.”



Of course, the Packers will hope this works out for them, and given Jacobs’ durability, production, and dynamic skill set, there’s no reason to think that won’t be the case.
