“We definitely had the opportunity to play home field with the last game in Detroit, but even losing that we still felt like we should’ve had home-field advantage,” Jefferson also added. “But even not having home-field advantage is never an excuse. Neither A.J. Brown nor Garrett Wilson: Mike Evans reveals who he believes is a better WR than himself in the NFL

The Minnesota Vikings will head into the new NFL season as contenders — at least within the NFC North. J.J. McCarthy could get his chance to start under center, and with the leadership and experience of star wide receiver <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/justin-jefferson">Justin Jefferson</a>, Kevin O’Connell’s squad is aiming to become a serious threat for the title.



Since entering the league in 2020, the former LSU standout has steadily become a key leader for the purple and gold. Through consistent high-level performances and a positive influence on his teammates, he has established himself as a cornerstone of the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/minnesota-vikings">Vikings</a> organization.



Jefferson is well aware of his role, and in a recent conversation with the media, he shared his thoughts on the impact he has on his teammates — and the approach he believes will lead to big results in the upcoming season.



“I have some type of influence on this team,” Jefferson said, via the Minnesota Star Tribune. “Whenever I have some type of encouraging words or just have that chance to bring up the team and break us down, that all makes a difference. Even just being here makes a difference.”

“Having a little bit of extra time to really bond with the team, build that connection and, of course, getting those reps with the quarterback,” he also added, “it makes a big difference.”

<h2>The importance of Jefferson’s presence at OTAs</h2>



Having veteran leaders on the roster often helps elevate younger players — and can be a major asset. Kevin O’Connell knows he has that kind of presence in Justin Jefferson, and he’s thankful for the star receiver’s participation in the team’s recent OTAs.



“If this guy, one of the best in the world at what he does, is pushing himself in May and June, I sure as heck better be doing the same thing,” O’Connell said. “… I think it’s been huge. He’s an energy igniter of the whole building. And I think he’s come back with a purpose and a mindset.”


 


Together, O’Connell and Jefferson will look to lead their team as far as possible — and why not, even dream of reaching the long-awaited Super Bowl.

With the NFL allowing their players to participate at the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics, Kansas City Chiefs star <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/patrick-mahomes">Patrick Mahomes</a> will have the possibility of playing quarterback for Team USA.



While many question whether the flag football players who currently represent the country deserve to take a back seat in this event, Mahomes recently received strong endorsement from an <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl">NFL</a> star to play in LA28.



During a recent interview with Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson backed Mahomes to be <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/team-usa">Team USA</a>‘s quarterback in the 2028 Olympics, suggesting that the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/kansas-city-chiefs">Chiefs</a> star should be way above other signal-callers in consideration.



“It will be tough to say it’s going to be all NFL players, and on top of that, there are only going to be so many positions,” Jefferson told Tom Pelissero in a recent interview. “I mean, it’s going to be difficult to beat out Patrick Mahomes for the starting quarterback spot.. That one’s going to be tough for sure.”

<h2>Mahomes reportedly wants to win gold with Team USA in 2028</h2>



According to Jeff Darlington of ESPN, Mahomes is reportedly interested in playing flag football in Los Angeles 2028 in order <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/nfl-news-after-multiple-super-bowl-wins-patrick-mahomes-reportedly-seeks-feat-he-cannot-chase-with-chiefs">to chase a feat he cannot achieve with the Chiefs</a>: winning an Olympic gold medal.

“I think that there will be a push, just like talking to Patrick Mahomes about it, for instance. I think there will be players that want the gold medal,” Darlington told Kevin Clark on This Is Football last week.



<h2>Team USA flag football QB says he’s better than Mahomes for LA28</h2>



But while Jefferson is among those supporting Mahomes’ case to play in LA28, current Team USA flag football quarterback Darrell Doucette III believes he should be considered before the Chiefs QB, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/team-usa-flag-football-star-voices-firm-message-to-nfl-players-who-want-to-play-in-la-2028-olympics">sending a firm message to NFL players who want to paticipate in the 2028 Olympics</a>.



“I’m not hiding from the competition, none of my teammates nor anybody else in the flag football world are hiding from the competition,” Doucette said. “But at the end of the day, I feel like I’m better than Patrick Mahomes because of my IQ of the game. I know he’s right now the best in the league, I know he’s more accurate, I know he has all these intangibles, but when it comes to flag football, I feel like I know more than him.”

<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/shedeur-sanders">Shedeur Sanders</a> was once projected as one of the top quarterbacks expected to go in the first round of the Draft, but his dramatic slide down the board has raised eyebrows across the league. The unexpected drop has sparked plenty of reactions throughout the NFL world — including from one of the Minnesota Vikings‘ biggest stars.



<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/justin-jefferson">Justin Jefferson</a>, a former first-round pick himself back in 2020, knows firsthand the significance of being selected early in the draft. The star wide receiver — and one of the cornerstone players in Kevin O’Connell’s offense — was left stunned by Sanders’ unexpected fall through the rounds.



Speaking to the media recently, Jefferson didn’t hold back his thoughts on the former Colorado Buffaloes standout. Not only did he express surprise at Sanders’ draft slide, but he also went a step further, saying he believes the QB has the kind of talent worthy of a top-10 pick.



“I think it’s crazy that he dropped that far in the draft,” Jefferson said. “I definitely don’t think he should’ve dropped that far, just watching him the previous seasons and seeing the different things that he did at Colorado. I definitely thought that he should’ve been drafted in that first, second round. I guess it’s just more fire for him and more chip on his shoulder that he can use going into the league.”

Jefferson even went as far as to suggest that the ideal landing spot for Sanders would have been Brian Daboll’s New York Giants: “New York doesn’t really have a quarterback.”

“I’m gonna say the Vikings won it,” he said. “I’m not a big fan of watching the draft, I feel like it doesn’t really matter. It all depends on who brings fire to their team and who makes the most of their opportunities.”
