<p>Some believe that could lead the team to <strong>pursue Bronny James in the NBA Draft</strong>, even if he’s not ready to go pro yet. Whatever the case, they also need to make sure LeBron signs a contract extension.</p>



<p>With that in mind, <strong>ESPN insider </strong>— and LeBron James expert — <strong>Brian Windhorst</strong> believes the 39-year-old star is going to opt out of the final year of his deal no matter what happens.</p>



<h2>LeBron James Could Ask For A No-Trade Clause</h2>



<p>“<strong><em>I think LeBron’s gonna opt out no matter what,” </em></strong>Windhorst said.<em> “And the reason I think he’s gonna opt out no matter what is even if he just signs back for one year, t<strong>he only functional way for LeBron to get a no-trade clause is to sign a new contract.”</strong></em></p>

<p>Windhorst believes LeBron is <strong>determined to get a no-trade clause in his new deal</strong>, which is one of the reasons why he’s going to opt out, the other being the financial implications of getting a new deal:</p>



<p>“<strong><em>If he extends the contract he’s in or picks up that option, and extends onto it, he can’t get a no-trade clause</em></strong>,” Windhorst added.<em> <strong>“And I think for a number of different reasons, LeBron would like, ask for, and probably be granted a no-trade clause.”</strong></em></p>

<p>Davis sounded the alarms when <strong>he left the loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves </strong>early in the second quarter and didn’t return. Then, he left the arena without even addressing the media.</p>



<p>Apparently, Davis<strong> re-aggravated an eye injury after a putback dunk. </strong>With him being one of the msot injury-prone and impactful players in the <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a></strong>, there are always major concerns whenever he gets hurt.</p>



<h2>Anthony Davis Talks About His Eye Injury</h2>



<p><strong>Dave McMenamin of ESPN </strong>reached out to Davis after the game, and he admitted that he just couldn’t see. He had a swollen eye and suffered corneal abrasion, so he clearly couldn’t play like that:</p>

So anytime I looked it was blurry. My eye was swollen. I thought my eye was like, [torn] open. But it wasn’<strong>t. It kept watering. It just felt like sand was in my eye.”</strong></em></p>



<p>The Lakers <strong>were already without LeBron James, </strong>who was a late scratch with flu-like symptoms. Needless to say, it was an uphill battle against the No. 1 seed without their two best players.</p>



<h2>Davis Is So Valuable, Says Coach Ham</h2>

That’s probably the most realistic one right now. <strong>What happens with Dallas and Kyrie? Do they flame out? Do they lose in the Play-In? Do they lose in round one? Does Dallas ultimately break that up? And then, what’s the market for Kyrie?”</strong></em></p>



<p>As for <strong>Donovan Mitchell, </strong>who was also mentioned as a potential target for Rob Pelinka, might not be available, as the <strong>Cleveland Cavaliers </strong>will make a strong push to keep him, and both the <strong>New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets</strong> will also be in the mix:</p>

But his age already creates retirement speculation. While some wonder when he’ll hang them up, <strong>the question many make is where he plans to finish his career.</strong></p>



<p>According to Jovan Buha of <em>The Athletic</em>, The King is expected to retire with the <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/los-angeles-lakers">Los Angeles Lakers</a></strong>. His deal with the purple and gold is up at the end of the season, though he has a player option for 2024-25.</p>



<p><strong><em>“I do expect them to sign him to a 3 year max contract. There’s three things that can occur,”</em></strong> Buha said. “<em>One: Three year extension. 2 years + player option. Two: Opt out and sign a 3 year extension without player option. Three: Opt out and sign with another team. <strong>I do expect him and LA to come to an agreement. I do think it’s most likely LeBron ends his career as a Laker</strong>.”</em></p>



<p>James has been in LA <strong>for almost six years now</strong>, in which he won an NBA championship during the Orlando bubble in 2020. He’s always looked happy in the city despite the team’s struggles, but it remains to be seen whether he has different plans for the future.</p>

<h2>LeBron would like to play with Bronny, but won’t force it</h2>



<p>It’s not a secret that LeBron <strong>would love to play next to his eldest son <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/bronny-james">Bronny</a></strong>, who could be eligible for the 2024 NBA Draft. However, the four-time NBA champion clarified he <strong>would also like to play against him</strong>, so his goal is to at least be on the same court, either as teammates or rivals.</p>

<p>“<em><strong>I need to be on the floor with my boy, I got to be on the floor with Bronny,</strong></em>” James said early in 2023, via ESPN. <em>“<strong>Either in the same uniform or a matchup against him…</strong> But I would love to do the whole Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr. thing. That would be ideal for sure. I ask him what are his aspirations, and he says he wants to play in the NBA. So, if he wants do to it, he’s got to put in the work. I’m here already, so, I’m just waiting on him.”</em></p>



<p>James knows that, after so many years of hard work, sacrifice and success, getting to play next to his child would be special. But he also understands that Bronny <strong>has to do his own path</strong>, even if that means not teaming up with LeBron.</p>



<p>“<em><strong>I’ve done what I’ve had to do in this league, and my son is going to take his journey,”</strong></em> James said. “<em>And whatever his journey, however his journey lays out, he’s going to do what’s best for him. <p><em><strong>“It doesn’t hit the ground running all the time smooth. Trying to figure things out on the fly.</strong> And yeah, Dennis is someone I love and care about. Dennis is a helluva player. But just trying to learn ‘Lo on the fly and figure things out,”</em> said Ham.</p>



<p>The second-year coach also stated that his relationship with Russell is currently in a great place, but he admitted that<strong> they can bump heads every now and then</strong> because of their desire to win:</p>



<p><em>“Then, for him, the beautiful thing about it I think that caused the difference in where we were then and where we are now is our ability to talk and be honest with one another. And our ability to really take accountability with one another,” </em>continued Ham. <em><strong>“It’s two grown men both caring about winning. Both trying to help one another figure this thing out. And who both want to get to the level we know we can get to. But in terms of he and I, I think we’re in a great place right now. I’m sure he would agree.”</strong></em></p>
