However, a recent report states that they could work out a deal way sooner than expected.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, both parties will meet on Thursday for the first time since December 1 to try and sort this situation out.
“Major League Baseball has offered to increase the minimum salary from $570,500 to $600,000, which would rise to $650,000 and $700,000 through the CBA,” Nightengale reported. “The union is seeking the competitive balance tax on payrolls to increase from $210 million to $245 million while the owners have offered a raise to $214 million at the outset.”

So, with the upcoming season up in the air, New York Mets superstar Max Scherzer sat down with Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times to explain why the players are so eager to change things:
“We feel as players that too many teams have gone into a season without any intent to win during this past CBA,” Scherzer said.“Even though that can be a strategy to win in future years, we’ve seen both small-market and large-market clubs embrace tanking, and that cannot be the optimal strategy for the owners.”
Scherzer also explained how mid-level free agents are hurt by the current agreement, claiming that the clubs aren’t willing to make up for their past contributions and look to minimize spendingearly in a players’ career:
“The grand bargain is that you make less money early in your career so that you can make more money later in your career,” the pitcher explained. “Teams have shown that they’re not willing to pay for players’ past production for a whole slew of reasons. And if that’s the case, that’s the case. But if we’re going to look at players that way, then we need to then allocate more money to players earlier in their career.”
When asked about whether the upcoming season could be delayed, the former Nationals star was non-committal. Clearly, the owners won’t give up without a fight and are willing to go the distance here:
“It’s too hard to even speculate what the future looks like,” Scherzer said. “You’re just in limbo right now. You’re training ready to be good to go for when spring training starts. If that doesn’t happen, then you make different decisions based on that. But until that happens, you have to have the mentality that we’re going to be playing on time. Any other kind of speculation is just hearsay.”

Seager admitted to being in constant contact with him when asked about a potential recruiting pitch. Nonetheless, some believe that it’s just a matter of time before he works out a deal with the Dodgers.
Even so, Kershaw <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/mlb/mlb-rumors-clayton-kershaw-unsure-about-future-with-the-dodgers-20210211-0006.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">previously addressed retirement</a> before the start of last season. He just welcomed his fourth child and is coming off an injury, so that thought could be looming around his head again.

And, according to Dodgers insider David Vassegh, some of the heavyweights of the dugout have already reached out to the front office demanding them to sign him:

Then again, whether the Dodgers will be willing to offer him six years and also forfeit draft picks to sign him while they still have Max Muncy remains to be seen. The fit is there but the hurdles could be tough to get by.

And last but not least, it seems like there has been little-to-no communication between the MLBPA and team owners. Moreover,Evan Drellich of The Athletic claims that both parties have yet to address the big-money issues of the upcoming CBA:
“The parties have had some communication since the owners started the lockout Dec. 2, and a small in-person meeting is planned for Thursday to discuss areas outside of core economics,” reported Drellich.
“There are more than 30 subjects in collective bargaining, and not all of them are as contentious as matters like the competitive balance tax or how many years it takes players to get to arbitration,” the report added. “But communication on the big-dollar issues remains on hold. And the explanation for why would depend on whom you ask.”

On December 9th the Rule 5 Draft is set to take place, the draft is designed to give minor league players a chance to get to the majors. The technicality is that Rule 5 players become a part of the MLBPA, the event could be cancelled in its entirety. On January 14th of 2022 arbitration salary filing deadline is set to take place, this means that team’s arbitration-eligible players file salary figures for the coming season. Each side, the team and player, both place what both parties believe said player should earn that season, and if the numbers don’t match a hearing is held. Very few players and clubs ever really go to a full-blown arbitration hearing.
One day later on January 15th international signing period is slated to begin, this is reserved for MLB teams to begin the process of signing foreign players. Mid-February Spring Training is set to begin, with no CBA in place the players cannot report, if the negotiations move to next year, it could affect the start of the preseason. March 31st is Opening Day, and while it is possible that things could be all squared by then, there is also a chance Opening Day could be moved.

Commissioner Rob Manfred published an open letter blaming the MLBPA of the lockout, claiming that the players’ demands of establishing a salary flor wouldhurt some teams’ ability to compete:
“Simply put, we believe that an offseason lockout is the best mechanism to protect the 2022 season. We hope that the lockout will jumpstart the negotiations and get us to an agreement that will allow the season to start on time. This defensive lockout was necessary because the Players Association’s vision for Major League Baseball would threaten the ability of most teams to be competitive. It’s simply not a viable option,” read the letter.
Well, I’m sure that there are plenty of business mogulf who have enough money to invest on MLB teams if the poor owners don’t have enough to spend in free agency. Whatever is the case, this situation is likely not going to change until next year.

Taylor entered free agency after turning down a qualifying offer worth $18.4 million for one year, according to ESPN. For now, the exact terms of the deal aren’t known. However, it seems like the Dodgers won’t lose another player after Seager and Scherzer departures.
During his 2021 season, Taylor played mostly as a center fielder and at second base, but also saw time in the other outfield spots, shortstop and third base. Right now, he’s one of the most versatile players in the league.
He made it to the majors with the Seattle Mariners in 2014. During the last five years with Los Angeles, he has hit .265/.343/.461 with a 116 wRC+. On the other hand, the Dodgers still have some players in the market such as Clayton Kershaw and Kenley Janse.
