Caitlin Clark won’t be intimidated by her WNBA rivals. After another night filled with physicality from the Connecticut Sun, this was her reaction to the controversial actions by Jacy Sheldon and Marina Mabrey.

ā€œAt the end of the day, I’m here to play basketball. That’s my job. That’s what I’m going to do. I’m a passionate player, but, at the end of the day, my game’s going to talk and that’s all that really matters. I love this game and I’m going to give it everything I have. So, I think that’s what competitors do. You step right back up to the challenge.ā€

The Indiana Fever defeated the Sun 88-71, and with Caitlin Clark back from her quadriceps injury, Stephanie White’s team once again looks like a serious championship contender.

What happened with Caitlin Clark and the referees?

After the sequence in which Jacy Sheldon poked Caitlin Clark in the eye and Marina Mabrey sent her to the floor, the referees did not eject any Sun players. However, that doesn’t concern the Fever star, as she’s already used to opponents trying to make her lose her composure.

Clark even encouraged reporters at the press conference to stop asking questions about the controversy and instead focus on Indiana’s ticket to the Commissioner’s Cup Final.

ā€œYou came for basketball. Let’s talk about basketball. Come on now. We’re going to the Commissioner Cup championship. That’s pretty exciting. You all want to talk about that? Let’s talk about that. Obviously, we’re excited. It’s a big deal. Why wouldn’t we celebrate that? We’re getting to play for a pool of money. That’s pretty fun. You’re competing to win a trophy. We’re proud of that.ā€
