Indiana Fever will take on Washington Mystics for their fifth match of the 2025 regular season. As always, the attention will inevitably be on their young star Caitlin Clark, who is set to miss the match after suffering an injury.

The Fever confirmed that Clark suffered a strain in her left quad, and she will be out for at least two weeks. This is the first time in all her professional and collegiate career that she will be a match in the regular season due to injury.

During the preseason, Clark played limited time due to a “tightness” in her quad. However, Fever didn’t confirm if this new injury was an aggravation of that previous issue. For coach Stephanie White, this time out will be an opportunity for Clark to learn to watch the game with “coach mindset.”

However, it’s clear that the team will miss her. The Fever, who are 2-2 after narrow losses to the Atlanta Dream and reigning champion New York Liberty, have relied on Clark’s attacking effectiveness.

She leads the team in scoring at 19.0 points per game and leads the league in assists at 9.3 dimes per contest. Recently, she passed Sabrina Ionescu as the player with the most 25-point, 10-assist games in WNBA history, in only 42 matches.

What games is Clark set to miss?

Caitlin Clark is expected to miss at least four games under the Indiana Fever’s current two-week timeline. She will be sidelined for matchups at the Washington Mystics, home games against the Connecticut Sun and Mystics, and an away game at the Chicago Sky. While Clark’s next evaluation is set for June 9, that date marks a reexamination, not a guaranteed return to the lineup.

The Fever’s schedule following Clark’s reexamination includes a June 10 game in Atlanta, followed by a four-day break before hosting the New York Liberty. Recovery timelines for a quad strain can vary widely, from a few weeks to several months, making it difficult to predict how long Clark will remain out.
