Giancarlo Stanton is off to a strong start with the New York Yankees, and his swing adjustments are playing a key role. The veteran slugger went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in a 5-0 win over the Seattle Mariners, extending his early-season surge.
“I might have changed my stance the most… I’m always trying to feel better and be on time,” Stanton told Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, who had recently detailed key adjustments fueling his Spring Training progress.
The results have been immediate. Stanton has recorded five straight multi-hit games and is hitting .500 with 10 hits and four RBIs through the first five games, showing better timing and control in his swing.
Adjustments focused on timing
Stanton’s changes are centered on staying balanced and improving his timing against fastballs. By keeping his swing simple and staying back longer, he has been able to make more consistent contact.

“I’m just staying back and being on time,” he added, pointing to the key adjustment that is helping him stay in rhythm at the plate.
Early results give Yankees confidence
The Yankees see this version of Stanton as a key part of their lineup. When healthy, he remains one of the most dangerous hitters, as shown by his 24 home runs and .944 OPS in 2025. If he maintains this approach, Stanton can provide steady production and help stabilize the offense throughout the 2026 season.
