The New York Jets turned the page after a failed Aaron Rodgers saga. With a new GM, head coach, and quarterback, they are doing an overhaul on the franchise. However, they kept some of their playmakers, and RB Breece Hall has made sure the NFL knows he is coming for all the glory.

While the 2024 season was underwhelming, Hall’s talent is unquestioned. In the end, he suffered a knee injury in 2023, so he was coming back from that last year. Not to mention, the Jets offense as a whole was a bit of a mess. After talking with new coach Aaron Glenn, Breece Hall announced he’s ready to “prove that I am the guy.”

Even if his 2024 statline marks only 876 rushing yards and 5 TDs, Hall wasn’t really that bad. He averaged 4.2 yards per carry and led the Jets with 1,359 scrimmage yards and 8 total TDs. The team was bad, no denying that, but Hall was its more productive player either way.

It’s a new regime without Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers brought lots of hype, but between injuries and dramas, he couldn’t meet any of the expectations in New York. The lows were so bad that the franchise tried to reset from the front office down.

With Aaron Glenn as a HC, their main focus will be defense. However, football is won by scoring more than your opponent. Attacking is half of the game and hence they brought a new OC too. The Jets hired Tanner Engstrand, who worked alongside Glenn on the Detroit Lions. Engstrand was the pass game coordinator and now has his big break as an offensive playcaller.

Detroit had one of the most explosive and creative offenses in the NFL, so fans are expecting some of that to come to the Jets. After all, the Jets do have talent. Hall, WR Garrett Wilson and rookie TE Mason Taylor could be the forefront of a productive offense. Not to mention, new QB Justin Fields adds a dual-threat factor under center.

What are the Jets expectations?

Firstly, the Jets must be a respectable, disciplined team. They have been known as a mediocre franchise for years. With the new regime, their priority should be establishing a culture based on good football IQ.

After that, a winning season, or at least one close to the .500 mark, is a step in the right direction. They also need to see if Fields is the QB they desperately need. By bringing two guys from the Lions, who years ago were in a similar situation to the Jets, the Green Gang hopes to replicate the results.
