The Kansas City Chiefs are the most successful NFL team in the last decade. After giving Patrick Mahomes the reigns of the offense, they have never failed to win the AFC West and reach at least the AFC Championship Game. Now, the team has made a multi-year move to keep their winning culture going.
Over the last 15 years, the Chiefs training camps have taken place in one place only, the Missouri Western State University (MWSU) campus. It seems like Andy Reid and his team will stay there for the foreseeable future.
On Sunday, the Chiefs announced they agreed to a new deal with MWSU to stay on the school’s campus while doing their training camps. “The club and university also announced a multi-year extension ahead of the 15th training camp at MWSU,” the Chiefs wrote.
Alongside their announcement, the Chiefs also made their training camp schedule public. Camp will begin Tuesday, July 22, and run daily all the way until Wednesday, August, 13th.
Kansas City wants to go back to the Super Bowl
Last Super Bowl is not one the Chiefs want to remember. They got blown out by a far-superior Philadelphia Eagles team. However, this is not the first time the Chiefs have to go back to the drawing board after a tough loss on a Super Bowl.
The same happened in 2020, when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tom Brady relentlessly beat the Chiefs. On 2021, K.C. was back at it and won the whole thing. If there is a silver lining for Chiefs fans is that they’ve bounced back before.
Their QB-Coach duo might be one of the best of all time
Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes have established themselves as the best QB-coach duo in the NFL. However, that seems to be an understatement, they are up there in the history books as one of the best ever.
While they haven’t reached the likes of Brady and Belichick statistically, Mahomes’ career is still young. As for Reid, he might not be a spring chicken, but he shows no signs of wanting to stop coaching. The Chiefs are a dynasty and as long as those two are together, it’s hard not to take them as Super Bowl contenders year in and year out.
