Mike Tomlin confirmed that the Pittsburgh Steelers are looking for a quarterback and that, as rumored, Aaron Rodgers is one of the options. However, if that doesn’t materialize, the head coach seems comfortable with Mason Rudolph’s return.
“Obviously, we’re still evaluating the acquisition of a guy at that position, whether it’s free agency or the draft. So, we’re doing our due diligence communicating with some free agents and also preparing for the draft. We’re optimistic about the room that we’re constructing. Obviously, we’re excited about having Mason Rudolph back. Our knowledge of him not only as a player, but as a man. It’s exciting to have him back, but certainly we’re going to continue to explore all our options in terms of rounding that room out.”
The Steelers haven’t won a Super Bowl in over 16 years, and Rodgers could be the missing piece to make it happen. Additionally, the veteran could serve as the ideal bridge quarterback while they find their future franchise player in the draft.
Did Steelers sign Aaron Rodgers?
No. The Steelers haven’t signed Aaron Rodgers, but during the annual owners’ meeting in Florida, Mike Tomlin expressed optimism about the information he gathered from the quarterback’s recent visit to Pittsburgh.
The big problem is that Rodgers still hasn’t made a final decision, as he could be waiting for a call from the Minnesota Vikings in the coming months. Because of this, the Steelers are in complete uncertainty and currently without a starting quarterback.
