Manchester United have failed to win again, while Cristiano Ronaldo has now gone six games without scoring a goal, which is his longest drought since 2009. The Red Devils had been expecting to get back on track against Southampton on Saturday.

They got off to a flying start as Jadon Sancho opened the score, marking the England international's maiden goal at Old Trafford. The away side, on the other hand, improved as they returned from the half-time break. It was Che Adams who netted his second goal in the past two Premier League games, after getting on the scoresheet against Tottenham in midweek.

United are now tied with West Ham for the fifth position on the Premier League table, with seven points separating them from third-placed Chelsea. Ralf Rangnick's players looked disappointed following the final whistle, and the Portuguese superstar was among them. As he greeted fans whilst exiting the field, cameras caught a strange occurrence.

Wind vs Ronaldo: 1-0

As can be seen in the post-match footage, Cristiano Ronaldo seemed to unintentionally spit in the direction of his teammate Anthony Elanga. At one moment, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner was caught by the cameras in the midst of spitting behind the 19-year-old forward. Bizarrely enough, some of the salivae appeared to land on the youngster's kit due to the wind catching it in the air. The video only suggests that the 37-year-old did not do it with intent.

Elanga, who was unlucky to miss a decisive penalty-kick that saw United crash out of the FA Cup on penalties to Middlesbrough, appeared to be entirely unaware of what had occurred as he graciously acknowledged spectators after the end of the game. Nonetheless, the video went viral on social media, leaving viewers bewildered as to what they had just experienced.
