Week 7 of the 2021 NFL regular season will bring us another matchup between division rivals New York Jets and New England Patriots, and thus, the second meeting between rookie quarterbacks Zach Wilson and Mac Jones

Everyone probably remembers very well how things turned out last time they met. But for those who need context, Bill Belichick's boys claimed their first victory of the season in a comfortable 25-6 win.

But Wilson might remember that day more than anyone else. He threw a terrible four interceptions and didn't get a single touchdown in what has been his first big upset in the NFL. On Sunday, he's determined to make things different.

Both New York and New England arrive at the seventh week of the season aiming to get back to winning ways. The Jets (1-4) will hit the road trying to claim revenge from Week 2, when the Patriots (2-4) beat them at MetLife Stadium.

And Zach Wilson isn't hiding as the rematch with Mac Jones and the Patriots looms around, he looks quite ready for it. “Just like it was the first time we played them, everything’s a steppingstone,’’ Wilson said after Thursday's practice, as quoted by New York Post's Mark Cannizzaro. We’re building something here that’s going to be special for a long time. When it’s going to be super-special, we don’t know, but all we have to focus on is one step at a time, throwing those bricks down and getting better. I’m excited to play these guys again. I think it’s going to be a blast.’’

But Bill Belichick seems to get the best of inexperienced quarterbacks most of the time, as his record against rookie signal-callers stands 22-6. And his defense already showed that to Wilson. But that doesn't seem to scare the BYU product.

He admits, however, to have learned a few things from that forgettable game: “Understanding what situations are worth taking a chance (and) how can I decide what I feel like is an aggressively smart play?" he said. "That’s what this week is about: How can I put my team in the best position to win this game.’’

A win would be really necessary for the Jets to build some confidence, although the Patriots will be unwilling to concede another defeat. So, we'll see if Wilson can turn that confidence into a much-needed win for his team.
