Smith’s words reflect the close relationship and mutual respect between the two players, who spent numerous seasons together on the Cowboys’ offensive line. The now-retired two-time All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowler spent 14 years in the NFL dominating the tackle position, 13 of them in Dallas.

Smith played 171 games in Dallas, where he became the franchise’s first offensive lineman taken in the first round since 1981.
