I also want to recognize Dak Prescott. One of the best teammates I ever had. Dak cares deeply about everyone in the locker room, and he’s more than a teammate. He’s a lifelong friend. And I’ll always have your back. You’ll always be QB1 to me,” Smith said about Prescott in press conference.

Smith’s words reflect the close relationship and mutual respect between the two players, who spent numerous seasons together on the Cowboys’ offensive line. The now-retired two-time All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowler spent 14 years in the NFL dominating the tackle position, 13 of them in Dallas.

Smith’s tenure with the Cowboys

Smith played 171 games in Dallas, where he became the franchise’s first offensive lineman taken in the first round since 1981. His retirement comes on the heels of the retirement of Zack Martin, with whom he shared a legendary offense.
