After suffering an embarrassing loss in Super Bowl LIX, Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs now have to watch how one of their players is packing his bags to sign for none other than the Philadelphia Eagles.

On Thursday, NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that linebacker Joshua Uche is joining the Eagles on a one-year deal after running out of contract in Kansas City, where he spent the 2024 season.

“Pass-rush help for Philadelphia: Eagles reached agreement today on a one-year deal with former Chiefs free-agent LB Joshua Uche, who now will try to help replace Josh Sweat and Brandon Graham. Deal negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus and Kyle Lincoln,” Schefter wrote on X.

Uche, who turns 27 in September, joined the Chiefs via trade from the New England Patriots halfway through the 2024 NFL season. Kansas City gave up a 2026 sixth-round pick to get him, knowing that the linebacker would hit unrestricted free agency at the end of the campaign.

Now, Reid and company have to see the team that beat them in Super Bowl LIX snatch one of their most experienced players in defense. It’s an interesting move by the Eagles, who needed to react after losing multiple contributors.

As Schefter noted, Philadelphia was forced to add at linebacker after watching Josh Sweat leave in free agency. The 27-year-old, who shone against the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, landed a four-year deal worth $41 million guaranteed with the Arizona Cardinals this week.

Additionally, the Eagles could also lose Brandon Graham. While his future in the NFL remains uncertain, chances are that the soon-to-be 37-year-old will call it a career this offseason.

Even if Graham stays, Philadelphia has already lost several members of its Super Bowl-winning roster ahead of the 2025 NFL season. Milton Williams agreed to a huge contract with the Patriots, Oren Burks joined the Cincinnati Bengals, Isaiah Rodgers left for the Minnesota Vikings, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson was traded to the Houston Texans, and Darius Slay moved to the Pittsburgh Steelers after being cut.
