Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers can now continue building their roster ahead of the start of the upcoming season, knowing that Aaron Rodgers will officially be their starting quarterback.
That means that, with three months to go, the time has come to surround the veteran with playmakers who can elevate the offense to Super Bowl contender levels. Until a few weeks ago, with DK Metcalf and George Pickens, that seemed unquestionable. However, the story is now different.
Pickens was traded to the Cowboys, and once again, the Steelers look like a team without a No. 2 star wide receiver. Despite the confidence in names like Robert Woods or Calvin Austin III, it doesnāt seem to be enough to compete with the Chiefs, Bills, or Ravens in the AFC.
Steelers might trade for tight end Kyle Pitts
According to a report from Ian Rapoport, the Pittsburgh Steelers have inquired about Kyle Pitts and his situation with the Falcons. Offensive coordinator Arthur Smith knows him well from his time as head coach in Atlanta.
āTheyāve inquired about other weapons. I know weāre talking about receivers, talking about pass catchers. Theyāve had their eyes on some tight ends too. Jonnu Smith, there was a phone call there. Kyle Pitts, there was a phone call there. The Steelers are in the market, it seems, for at least one more playmaker.ā
