Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers officially wrapped up their preseason games with a record of two wins and one loss. Now, heading into the start of the 2025 regular season, the head coach admitted that there are many things to fix.
āItās a lot of things that I donāt like to be quite honest with you. I thought we were highly penalized. We turned the ball over early. The tackling was shaky at best at times. I think they had 100 yards rushing at the half. Thatās just kind of indicative of how poor the tackling was at times.ā
In a highly controversial decision, Tomlin chose not to give Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf a single snap in the preseason, despite the fact that they are adjusting to a new offensive scheme. On defense, other veterans like Cam Heyward and T.J. Watt also saw no action.
Mike Tomlinās Big Warning for Steelers
During the press conference after the victory against the Carolina Panthers, a reporter asked Mike Tomlin if he liked where the Steelers are after three preseason games. The head coachās response was a warning for the entire team.
āDoes it matter? Weāre not a finished product, but, no one is. Iām looking for this group to take advantage of this block of time between now and the opener. We just got to have urgency every day in the work that we prescribe for ourselves. So, thatās a challenge. Itās a challenge for us and for everyone to continue to be a group on the rise day in and day out although the preseason games are over.ā
