Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers are fully confident that Aaron Rodgers is the missing piece they need to become championship contenders. That’s why practically their entire offseason revolved around providing the veteran quarterback with the tools necessary to make a deep playoff run.
On offense, the main change is the arrival of DK Metcalf, who takes over the No. 1 wide receiver spot following the departure of George Pickens. In addition, at the running back position, Najee Harris left for the Chargers, so Jaylen Warren will be the new starter.
However, the key for the team to truly contend for the Super Bowl lies on the defensive side. T.J. Watt has already received his long-awaited contract extension and will lead the locker room alongside Cam Heyward. What’s interesting is how much they can improve with newly signed star veterans like Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slay.
Can the Steelers win the Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers?
Mike Tomlin and the Steelers believe they have the roster to win the Super Bowl, but ESPN analyst Ryan Clark doesn’t feel the same way. According to the former Pittsburgh player, it will all end once again with a disappointing performance in the playoffs.
“They’ll be good enough. I believe this is a playoff contender. I believe this is the team that can get them a spot in the playoffs. I also believe the ceiling is winning a Wild Card game. I’m confident Aaron Rodgers is going to play well. I think Aaron Rodgers and Coach Tomlin are going to have a great relationship, but that doesn’t mean they’re gonna beat Buffalo, the Baltimore Ravens or the Kansas City Chiefs.”
