Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs are seeking redemption after being dominated in the last Super Bowl by the Eagles. For that reason, the legendary tight end decided to postpone his retirement from football.

For several weeks now, multiple insiders have indicated that Kelce was aiming to reach the best physical shape of his entire career. Now, even before training camp has started, it seems he’s serious about it.

A few days ago, at the Amazon MGM Studios Upfront, Kelce told several reporters that he has already lost 25 pounds. What does this mean? The message is clear: Travis wants to be fully focused on helping Patrick Mahomes win another championship.

Is Travis Kelce retiring?

No. Travis Kelce will not retire from football and will play the 2025 season with the Kansas City Chiefs. The sting of the loss to the Eagles was so strong that just a few days after that game, the tight end was ready to return without hesitation.

The Chiefs legend is entering the final year of his contract, and for now, that’s all that matters. Everything seems to point to 2026 as the likely retirement date, but that could ultimately depend, good or bad, on what happens during the upcoming season.
