NY Giants are open to return of Odell Beckham Jr to MetLife Stadium

Odell Beckham Jr. isn't hiding his desire to be back with the New York Giants, and the Big Blue might be seriously considering an NFL homecoming.

The New York Giants pose some of the biggest question marks heading to a new NFL season. With John Harbaugh taking over as head coach, the G-Men could look completely different in 2026. New York could use some help on both sides of the football, and Odell Beckham Jr. may be a vital addition to the offense.

Although the Giants quickly ruled out the Myles Garrett rumors, they are weighing their options in other areas of the field. When it comes to bolstering the offense, Beckham Jr. is one of them. “You look at every option, and Odell is an option. He’s one of my very favorite people in the world,” Harbaugh said about Beckham Jr., whom he coached in Baltimore in 2023, via @SNYGiants on X.

Beckham Jr. is familiar with the organization, as the Giants selected him with a first-round pick (12th overall) in the 2014 NFL Draft. He played five seasons for the G-Men before being traded to the Cleveland Browns in March 2019. Beckham Jr.’s exit from East Rutherford—as most aspects of his career—was quite dramatic, but he has seemingly made his peace with the Giants, and is looking forward to a reunion.

As the Giants receive Harbaugh and his staff after a “great year” in Baltimore, adding “OBJ” might be a match made in heaven. However, there are several catches, as well as hurdles, that New York simply cannot overlook.

The Giants and Beckham Jr. could both benefit

Since wanting out of New York, Odell has played for four different organizations and even won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams. Still, his name is synonymous with the NFC franchise in New Jersey.

As for the Giants, they haven’t had a face of the franchise quite like Beckham Jr. ever since he was traded to Cleveland. If healthy, Beckham Jr. could provide a big boost to the G-Men’s passing offense. That’s a big if, though, as Odell’s last NFL outing came in December 2024.

New York needs to address WR core

Malik Nabers is the clear-cut WR1 for New York. However, the fellow LSU graduate is coming off a season-ending torn ACL and meniscus injury during the 2025 NFL season. How he returns from such a setback is uncertain, and the Giants really don’t have much strategic depth to fall back on if Nabers misses time or is off his game in 2026.

A 34-year-old Beckham Jr. is far from a reliable No. 1 option for Jaxson Dart, but his presence could draw attention from defenses and help another wideout blossom into a larger role. Still, it’s all too speculative for the Giants to be fully convinced.

Giants can’t overpay for “OBJ”

If Beckham Jr. is serious about returning to MetLife Stadium, and New York buys into the hype, then the wide receiver must prove his commitment by accepting a team-friendly deal. Otherwise, there aren’t many pros for New York in acquiring “OBJ”—aside from an obvious marketing and jersey sales standpoint.

As of August 2025, Forbes ranks the Giants third among the NFL’s most valuable teams. Thus, it’s not like the G-Men are pinching pennies and need a household name like Beckham Jr. to make ends meet.

Still, the offense is in need of a spark. If not Odell, Big Blue needs to address its struggles in the passing game. Or perhaps Harbaugh is content with the receiving corps featuring the likes of Nabers, Darnell Mooney, and Darius Slayton.
