The New York Giants are open to the return of Odell Beckham Jr., but it won’t be an easy task. Jon Schoen, the team’s general manager, acknowledged that they first want to assess his physical and technical condition.

“Somebody that hasn’t played, in this instance you’re talking about Odell hasn’t played in a year, you’d certainly want to see him work out, Schoen said via nbcsports.com.

Amid roster construction and with several options at his position, OBJ’s return is still unconfirmed. Will the wide receiver finally get his second chance in the Big Apple?

OBJ’s latest NFL performance

Odell Beckham Jr.’s most recent NFL season was in 2024 with the Miami Dolphins, where he had a limited role after starting the year on the Physically Unable to Perform list. In nine games, he recorded just 9 receptions for 55 yards and no touchdowns before being released.

Odell’s devastating injuries

OBJ’s career has been significantly hampered by severe injuries, most notably two ACL tears in the same left knee—the first in 2020 with the Browns and the second during Super Bowl LVI with the Rams. He also suffered a broken left ankle in 2017 that required surgery and ended his season, along with various high-ankle sprains and core muscle injuries that have altered his explosive playstyle over the years.

Alternatives in the Giants’ receiving corps

The Giants‘ 2026 receiving corps is led by dynamic star Malik Nabers and the reliable Darius Slayton, who remains a consistent deep threat. This duo anchors a unit focused on explosive plays, complemented by Darnell Mooney to round out a high-ceiling passing attack.
