Not many people could argue that Patrick Mahomes is the most talented dual-threat quarterback in the NFL. He can make plays with his feet and on the air, he can throw the ball downfield or find tiny gaps and does pretty much everything at a high level.

Then again, he’s regressing in one of the aspects that made him one of the most impressive quarterbacks in the world. He’s turned the ball over 14 times on his last 13 games and has already matched last season’s total in interceptions (6) through just 5 weeks.

That’s why, now that the Chiefs are sitting at a 2-3 record following an embarrassing 38-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills in which he turned the ball over 3 times, Mahomes said that it’s time to do some soul-searching.

Patrick Mahomes Says He Needs To Make Better Decisions

“It starts with me,” Mahomes said after the game, as quoted by ESPN’s Adam Teicher.“It’s something I’ve not usually done in my career, but I have to reevaluate where I’m at, what decisions I’m making.”

“I’ve been a crazier player as far as scrambling and making throws. But in my career I’ve never been someone who throws a lot of interceptions. I have to look at it now, reevaluate what I’m doing, and I have to cut it out, he added.“We know we have what it takes to be great. It’s a matter of coming together now and finding a way to do that.”

Andy Reid Weighs In On The Chiefs’ Turnovers

It’s still early to sound off the alarms at Arrowhead Stadium but coach Andy Reid knows that they just need to do better:

“We weren’t on the same page with the receivers and where they were going and with Pat,” Reid said. “Gotta do better with that. Got to make sure that takes place. We know we can do better on turnovers, big plays — I know what we are capable of. I see that. We just have to get that done.”

The Chiefs will now head to the nation’s capital to visit the 2-3 Washington Football Team in a must-win game, especially with the Los Angeles Chargers sitting at a 4-1 record and at the top of the division.
