The Indianapolis Colts bolstered their ranks at Tuesday’s trade deadline. While sitting at 7-2, the AFC South team wasn’t content with the state of their defense, and went out to land a remarkable cornerback.
The Colts landed Sauce Gardner from the New York Jets in exchange for their 2026 and 2027 first-round picks and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell. Head coach Shane Steichen revealed that Gardner was in concussion protocol since he was still with the Jets, but the defender is expected to play on Sunday.
Indianapolis will travel to Berlin to take on the Atlanta Falcons, a team eager to turn its season around amid a campaign full of inconsistency. This move was big for the Colts, as it sent a clear message to the rest of the league.
Raheem Morris talks Sauce Gardner’s move to Indianapolis
On Friday, Falcons head coach Raheem Morris talked about the addition of Gardner, who is set to make his debut against Atlanta in Berlin. Morris admitted that Gardner’s presence will impact his team’s game plan.

“It’s definitely going to affect some things we are going to do,” Morris said, per Josh Kendall of The Athletic.
The coach is well aware of the Colts’ well-rounded offense, which can hurt teams on air and on the ground. Morris made it clear that they will try not to give them chances to play their game.
“We got to find a way to make them one dimensional,” he added.
The Colts are on a roll, and the Falcons are looking to bounce back after three consecutive losses. This should be an entertaining duel, as both teams have extra motivation to win.
