Ashton Jeanty’s preseason debut with the Las Vegas Raiders may not have been the most promising. He struggled to find his footing and wasn’t able to deliver the kind of numbers fans have come to expect. However, a standout performance in his second outing against the San Francisco 49ers has reignited hope, fueling optimism that he could make a major impact in the upcoming NFL season.

Pete Carroll’s postgame words to the media were crystal clear: “Tough as hell.” The praise came in response to the performance of the former Boise State standout, who had seven carries for 33 yards and added one reception — a small but telling preview of what’s expected from him moving forward.

Following the game, the Raiders’ explosive running back spoke with members of the media and made it clear that his journey in the league has officially begun — a warning shot to the rest of the competition heading into Week 1.

“It was definitely today for sure,” Jeanty said. “It takes time as a rookie to gain that confidence. I’m here. I’ve arrived and it’s time to keep going and make plays for this team.”

A new hope in Las Vegas

The Las Vegas Raiders are entering a new era, fueled by a dramatic offseason that has injected a significant dose of hope into the franchise. The team made a splash by hiring veteran coach Pete Carroll as its new head coach, a move that brought with it the veteran quarterback Geno Smith, whom Carroll had previously revitalized in Seattle.

While the experienced leadership of Carroll and Smith is expected to bring stability, the Raiders’ success will also depend on a blend of youth and proven talent. The team’s offense is looking to dynamic young running back Ashton Jeanty to provide a spark, while the defense will continue to be anchored by the relentless energy and leadership of veteran edge rusher Maxx Crosby.

The AFC West is a formidable division, but with a new culture and a roster that blends veteran savvy with promising youth, the Raiders are ready to challenge the established order and fight for redemption.
