NHL News: Mitch Marner's return to Toronto has been confirmed to face Auston Matthews' Maple Leafs after schedule release

The stage is set for one of the most anticipated matchups of the NHL season. Mitch Marner, now donning the Golden Knights jersey, is officially scheduled to return to Toronto to face off against his former team and longtime rival, Auston Matthews, and the Maple Leafs.

Mitch Marner unexpectedly decided to leave the Toronto Maple Leafs and will begin a new chapter alongside Jack Eichel and the Golden Knights in pursuit of the Stanley Cup.

As expected, following the lack of playoff success, many fans in Toronto ended up frustrated with Marner after the trade was announced, which saw Nicolas Roy join the Leafs in exchange.

For that reason, one of the key matchups of the 2025-2026 NHL season will be when Marner visits Auston Matthews and the Leafs. That highly anticipated game now has a confirmed date following the league’s schedule release.
