The Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers meet in the 2025 NHL Eastern Conference Final in a long-awaited rematch of their 2023 showdown, when the Cats swept the Canes en route to the Stanley Cup Final. This time around, Rod Brind’Amour and Carolina are determined to even the scales—though they’ll need to win a game first, something they haven’t done at this stage since 2009. As the Stanley Cup Playoffs once again bring Rod Brind’Amour and Paul Maurice face to face, we take a look at the coaches’ salaries.
Brind’Amour is a living legend in Raleigh and he is treated like one, both by fans and the organization who signed him to a big contract extension in 2024. Brind’Amour was the Hurricanes’ captain during the franchise’s lone Stanley Cup championship in the 2005-06 NHL season, and has been the head coach in North Carolina since 2018.
He has been able to replicate the success he found as a player, though. Brind’Amour and the Hurricanes have fallen at the gates of the Stanley Cup Final in two ocassions, suffering heartbreaking sweeps in both appearances, in 2019 against Boston and in 2023 against Maurice’s Florida.
Despite failing to register a single win in the Eastern Conference Final so far in his coaching career, the Hurricanes showed their trust and full confidence in Brind’Amour signing him to a five-year extension in 2024, in which he makes roughly $2M a year, according to Sportskeeda.

Rod Brind’Amour of the Carolina Hurricanes speaks with the media following the series win over the Washington Capitals in Game Five of the Second Round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs at Capital One Arena on May 15, 2025 in Washington, DC.
How much does Maurice earn?
The Panthers’ recent success in the Stanley Cup Playoffs would be impossible to explain without Paul Maurice. The 58-year-old head coach changed the team’s identity entirely and it’s led to three straight Eastern Conference Final appearances with hope still alive for back-to-back Stanley Cups.

Paul Maurice’s net worth: How rich is the head coach of the Florida Panthers?
While coaches’ salaries are not publicly disclosed—since there is no coaches’ union like there is for players—some details do emerge regarding how much NHL coaches earn. In Paul Maurice’s case, the Panthers’ bench boss is currently in the final year of the initial three-year contract he signed in 2022, which pays him approximately $3.9 million per year, per Sportskeeda.
However, starting next season, Maurice’s contract will shift to the multi-year extension he signed after hoisting the Stanley Cup in 2024. While the terms and details of the deal haven’t been disclosed, it’s fair to assume it includes a generous salary increase—well deserved for the glorious run he’s led Florida on.
