Hence, all eyes are on wide receivers Matthew Golden and Christian Watson. Will they play?



Good news for the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/green-bay-packers" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Packers</a>. Ian Rapoport reported that both Matthew Golden and Christian Watson will play tonight on Sunday Night Football. <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/jordan-love" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jordan Love</a> will have both of his weapons.



Golden was dealing with a hip injury but he will be able to play despite that. Golden has 18 catches in 23 targets this year for 249 yards. He’s also been used in jet-sweeps as he has 45 rushing yards in eight rushing attempts too.



<h2>Watson will make his season debut</h2>



<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/christian-watson" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Christian Watson</a> hasn’t played for the Packers this year. He was on the PUP list, but was activated Saturday. Last year, Watson had 643 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns. It will be intriguing to see how <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/matt-lafleur" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Matt LaFleur</a> schemes him this year.

As for Watson, he has had an up-and-down career. At times, he is a touchdown machine, at others, he drops the easiest of passes. In the middle of that, he is injured. He hasn’t had a full healthy season in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NFL</a> in any of his four years.

If <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/aaron-rodgers" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Aaron Rodgers</a> wins, he would become the fifth quarterback to beat all 32 NFL franchises. He’d join Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Tom Brady. The Packers don’t want to allow that to happen. 



Rodgers has the motivation, the trends and a long week of preparation ahead of this game. Therefore, the Packers should be in for a big-time challenge once SNF kicks off at Acrisure Stadium.

They have many average-to-above-average ones, and maybe one very good wideout. But one of those might not even be available to start the season.



Unfortunately, it’s the best weapon <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/christian-watson" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Christian Watson</a> the one who might not be able to get going. The Packers placed him on the active/physically unable to perform list. This usually means he will miss at least 4 games, however, he can be activated at any moment. This was reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Watson is still recovering from an ACL tear suffered late in last season.



While there are still other options for the Packers, Watson should be the best available when healthy. Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks will be there. Also, first-round pick Matthew Golden and third-round pick Savion Williams will be a part of the depth chart.



<h2>Watson has a big injury history</h2>



Watson has played three years in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NFL</a> but is yet to play a full season. In 2022 he played 14 games but finished the season strong scoring lots of touchdowns down the stretch. In 2023, he played nine games only, scoring five times and producing 422 yards. Last season, he played 15 games but was posting career-low numbers in yards per game and touchdowns.

Entering his fourth year, on the PUP list is not the best of news for Watson. This year is usually crucial for someone on his rookie deal, and he will leave money on the table if his season doesn’t go well. The fourth year is where you put pressure on the team to sign you to a new, lucrative deal. If you’re not able to deliver, that leverage goes out the window.

<h2>Watson is not the only one placed on the PUP list</h2>



Alongside Watson, linebacker Quay Walker is also on the active/PUP list. Offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins was placed on the non-football injury list. While all can be activated anytime by the Packers, it’s still not good news for the team to have to do these moves.

<h2>Watson Knows It Was Worth The Wait</h2>
The second-round pick out of NDSU knows he wasn’t at his best to start the season. However, when asked about whether last night’s game was worth the wait, he was as blunt and straightforward as you’d expect:
“I would definitely say it is,” Watson said. “I mean, obviously, it didn’t go the way I wanted, but like I kind of just said, ‘I’ve got to control what I can control.’ So obviously, [to] be able to just go out there and do my thing today was obviously well worth it.”
“It started off rough again, having two drops, and to finish the game with three touchdowns … I did tell him after the second drop on the third down, I said, ‘Hey, we’re coming back to you. We’re coming back to you.’ And he responded,” HC Matt LaFleur added.
The Packers’ offense will continue to be undermanned for the remainder of the campaign. So, hopefully, Watson will be able to build from this momentum and help his team turn this tough season around.

“You know there were games where I didn’t give Davante a ton of looks, but you go back and watch the film, and you’re thinking, ‘Man, this guy is open often.’ It’s like that from time to time with Christian. 
“There’s a few routes, I mean not as much as Davante, I just think Davante was a little more polished route runner as a rookie, but there are a few times where I might need to give him a second look even when things don’t look great from the start because he does have that different type of speed. But we’re finding ways to use him, I think, and again, we have to have patience.”
Aaron Rodgers has been with the Green Bay Packers since he entered the NFL, so whenever he has this kind of praise for a teammate, he knows what he’s talking about. Watson’s stats may have yet to take off, but his potential has already caught Rodgers’ eye.
