Anthony Davis recently opened up about Giannis Antetokounmpo and his stellar season last year. Although the Greek player couldn’t take his Milwaukee Bucks to the promised land in the Orlando bubble, what he did during the regular season was enough to earn him two big awards.

The 26-year-old became the third player in NBA history to win the MVP and DPOY award in the same season, emulating what Hakeem Olajuwon and Michael Jordan did during the 80s and 90s in the association.

Those awards were very criticized mostly because of Giannis’ performance during the postseason and the fact that LeBron James and AD, the stellar duo of the Los Angeles Lakers, had better seasons than him. Well, the Brow isn’t so sure about it and he backed Giannis after he faced the player last week.

Anthony Davis says Giannis Antetokounmpo deserved both the MVP and DPOY awards

Davis had nothing but good things to say about Antetokounmpo and his remarkable 2019/20 regular season. The Lakers beat the Bucks in a very interesting game that saw LeBron making clutch shots to beat Giannis.

After the game, Davis made it clear that neither he nor his teammate were looking for revenge against Giannis, claiming that the Greek Freak was the rightful winner for both prizes last campaign.

“Our motivation was not losing two in a row, and we were able to get that accomplished,” he said.

“He’s a great player on both sides of the ball and he deserved them. For us, we just try to go out there and win basketball games.”

Back in the day, both the Brow and the King expressed their disagreement with the MVP and DPOY award voting, even regarding themselves as the rightful winners of such honors. Things have changed now and as long as they keep winning championships, the rest will be an addition to their success.
