Ever since he made it to the NFL in 2014, Allen Robinson has proven to be one of the most skilled wide receivers in the game. Nevertheless, it seems like his teams (Jacksonville Jaguars, Chicago Bears) have never been able to truly make the most of his talent.
And now, there’s an ongoing report claiming that Robinson and his agent want him out of Chicago as they’re unsatisfied by the way they’re handling his new contract. Even though they’ve already denied such thing, we’ve seen and heard this over and over.
Robinson has been misused by Matt Naggy’s offense and Mitch Trubitsky’s poor play. Chicago’s passing game is subpar, to say the least, and it doesn’t feel like that could change any time soon, even if they hand the keys to Nick Foles.
So, even if Allen Robinson didn’t request a trade as it was reported, he would be wise to try and force a move out of Soldier Field. But, where would he thrive the most? What teams should make a run at him? Let’s break it down.
3 Best Trade Destinations For Allen Robinson
3. Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings turned their focus to the running game last season with a fully healthy Dalvin Cook. It took a lot of pressure off of Kirk Cousins’ shoulders and the team featured a balanced, promising offense that should just continue to get better this season.
However, the Vikings had to trade Steffon Diggs away and lack a true 2nd option behind Adam Thielen. Cousins forced the ball into Thielen’s hands with the game already out of reach vs. the Packers but he’s not always going to win all matchups, regardless of how big and talented he is.
Perhaps the Bears will be wary of trading their star wideout to a divisional rival but the Vikings need to give Cousins another weapon at all costs, and they have enough future assets to get a deal done.
2. New England Patriots
Every time there’s a disgruntled star, we should look out to Bill Belichick looming around. He’s always listening, always watching, and always ready to make the most ofwasted talent. This time shouldn’t be the exception.
The New England Patriots have plenty of assets to move to give Cam Newton another top-notch wide receiver. They recently parted ways with Mohamed Sanu and are clearly high on N’Keal Harry but lining up Allen Robinson with slot specialist Julian Edelman would be a massive upgrade.
Judging by what the Patriots showed in the season opener, they’re going to be a run-heavy team. Then again, Cam has a bazooka for an arm, and giving him a deep-ball threat like Robinson could be terrifying for the rest of the league.
1. Green Bay Packers
Once again, the Chicago Bears may not want to give their divisional rivals any help but if Robinson indeed wants to leave, they’ll be forced to listen to the best offer. It’s unclear whether the Green Bay Packers want to give up future assets but they must do something with their receiving corps ASAP.
The Packers failed to surround Aaron Rodgers with more talent this offseason but they can right that wrong by giving him Allen Robinson. They already have a huge threat in Davante Adams but it all goes downhill from there.
Rodgers has raved about Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Allen Lazard but the first struggled with drops and the latter is still kind of raw. Their Super Bowl window is closing in on them so they better get a deal done.
