Sam Darnold is the new signal-caller for the Seattle Seahawks. The team relies on him to make them a top-tier unit in the NFL. However, while the quarterback is key, protecting him is as crucial. One of those tasked with doing so is recovering from injuries. Now, the team has updated the signal-caller regarding that situation.

Charles Cross is one of the best offensive tackles on the Seahawks roster. According to Ian Rapoport from NFL Network, Cross underwent successful surgery on a dislocated finger. Even better for the team, he is expected to be ready come Week 1.

Every single quarterback will love having great tackles protecting you. Cross will not only protect the passer, but absolutely dominate the rushers trying to sack Darnold from his blind side.

Availability is the best ability

Cross played 100% of the offensive snaps last year for the Seahawks. During his three-year career, he’s only missed three games. He is as dependable as they come.

Charles Cross #67 of the Seattle Seahawks is introduced before a game against the Minnesota Vikings at Lumen Field on December 22, 2024 in Seattle, Washington.

Cross is also a very good blocker, as he only had 1 holding penalty last year, menaing he is clean once the play develops. He does need to become better on one area and that’s the timing of the snaps. Last year, he had a career-high 6 penalties on false starts.

How is Seattle’s offense looking?

Darnold will be under center after he just had the best season of his NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings. Then, Jaxon Smith-Njigba had a career-best year in 2024 and will have the chance to establish himself as a top wideout in the league. Super Bowl-winning receiver Cooper Kupp is also a new face on the roster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling will become the deep threat of the team.

Running the ball, the established duo of Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet bring physicality and strength to the team. They will undoubtedly be a problem for opposing defenses. Overall, the team has talent, but it will all come down to Darnold.
