Bronny James is new player of the Los Angeles Lakers. General manager Rob Pelinka delivered and LeBron James will have the historic chance to play with his son.
However, just days after Bronny was selected with the No.55 pick in the 2024 Draft, many analysts and fans have questioned on social media if the young prospect of USC would have arrived to the NBA if not for his father’s influence.
“I’ve already seen it on social media and the Internet. Stuff talking about that I might not deserve an opportunity. But I’ve been dealing with stuff like this my whole life. So, it’s nothing different, but it’s more amplified for sure. I’ll get through it.”
What is the salary of Bronny James with Lakers?
During that same press conference to introduce Bronny James, the new head coach of the Lakers, JJ Redick, assured LeBron’s son absolutely earned his ticket to the NBA. “Rob (Pelinka) and I did not give anything. Bronny has earned this. Bronny has earned this through hard work.”
However, the critics toward Bronny and the impact of his father took another level when a report from ESPN confirmed the rookie will sign a four-year, $7.9 million contract.

Why is this a big deal? Well, the numbers are staggering compared to other No.55 picks in recent NBA history. For example, Gui Santos got only $75000 guaranteed in 2022 from the Golden State Warriors while Bronny has $4 million guaranteed.
Meanwhile, three names received a two-way contract far away of Bronny’s new money: Kyle Guy, Jay Scrubb and Aaron Wiggins. Last year’s No.55 pick, Isaiah Wong, signed a two-day contract of $560000 with the Indiana Pacers.
