2025 NFL Draft: Deion Sanders sends strong message to Browns after they pass on Shedeur

Even though Shedeur Sanders was projected to be a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, he went unselected on Day 1. Shortly after, his father, Deion Sanders, reacted strongly to the Cleveland Browns — one of the teams considered a potential landing spot — for passing on the quarterback.

Shedeur Sanders was not selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He was strongly linked to the Cleveland Browns and, after the AFC North team passed on him, his father Deion sent a very strong message to the franchise.

In a surprising turn of events, Shedeur Sanders went undrafted on Day 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft. While his talent is undeniable, many scouts believe his mindset may not yet be ready to lead an NFL team as a starting quarterback.

Shedeur Sanders did not attend the NFL Draft after rumors suggested he might not be selected. Instead, he hosted his own draft party, where his family and acquaintances watched as all 32 first-round picks went by without his name being called.

Cam Ward and Jaxson Dart were the only two quarterbacks selected in the first round. While many teams needed a signal-caller, something kept them from drafting Sanders on opening night.

The Cleveland Browns were one of the teams in need of a quarterback. However, the AFC North franchise used their No. 5 overall pick on defensive tackle Mason Graham to strengthen their defense.
