Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans aren’t going through the best times right now after the player decided to request a trade from his first NFL team after not being involved in the search for a new GM.
The franchise made the decision without consulting him and that obviously didn’t sit well with the player, who is now trying to force his way out of the team after playing the last four years with them.
Watson is now ready to try his luck with a different team and the Texans are still trying to figure out a way to retain him and see if he can honor his contract extension, signed last year. In recent hours, the 25-year-old took a step forward when he deleted everything related to the Texans from social media.
Why Deshaun Watson removed the Houston Texans from social media
Nick Casario’s tenure with the franchise didn’t start the best way and as the days go by, it gets worse for him. In his introductory speech for new head coach David Culley, the GM talked about Watson, referring to him as only “the player,” which is believed to be what triggered Watson’s anger.
“So organizationally, just want to reiterate our commitment to Deshaun Watson,” Caserio said, via The Miami Herald. “He’s had a great impact on this organization, a great impact on a lot of people, a great impact on this team, and we look forward to the opportunity to spend more time with him here this spring once we get started.
“And we have zero interest in trading the player. We have a great plan, a great vision for him and for this team and his role on our team and we look forward to the opportunity to spend more time with him here this spring.”
This situation is quickly escalating and nobody knows when it’s going to happen. Now the former Clemson quarterback is ready to move on but his team might have different plans. After seeing what Matthew Stafford and the Lions did, he could have hope but the situation isn’t that easy for both parties.
