Winning a Super Bowl is the ultimate achievement in the NFL. Jalen Hurts guided the Philadelphia Eagles to the Lombardy trophy but a player on the team didnāt even want to be there. Now that he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers to play on Brock Purdyās side, heās made his opinions known.
Bryce Huff was a standout in 2023. After his first three seasons on the New York Jets, it was his fourth year where he took a leap. He delivered 10 sacks without even being a starter, so the Eagles made a move for him.
However, Huff failed to deliver that same production in Philly and apparently, he knew early on he wasnāt going to fit in. āIf Iām being 100% honest with you, I wanted a trade like fairly early on,ā Huff said. āAnd just ācause of how things went in Philly, I knew pretty early on it wasnāt a fit.ā
The 49ers is where Huff can thrive
Huff might be going to a new team in San Francisco, but he knows very well what he is getting into. The 49ers defensive coordinator is Robert Saleh, who was the Jets head coach when Huff became a big-time pass rusher. This means Huff is in the perfect place to regain his best version.

Huff is also sharing the defensive unit with top-tier talent like edge rusher Nick Bosa and linebacker Fred Warner, just to mention a few. If Huff can make his impact known, the 49ers might easily have a top 10 pass-rushing duo.

San Francisco is getting to that now-or-never stage
The NFL will give you windows to go for the Super Bowl but these donāt last forever. San Francisco has tried to elongate theirs but after going to two Super Bowls in the last 6 years and still add zero rings to its cabinet, the window is getting narrow.
The team has done deals and restructured contracts to keep their hopes alive but itās now or never. There might not be a tomorrow for this team if they donāt get to the promised land this season.
