Jets insider warns the NFL about a new change on offense ahead of 2025 season after Aaron Rodgers’ departure

After being a pass-heavy offense with Aaron Rodgers, the New York Jets are reportedly entering a new era with a new offensive identity for this NFL season.

The New York Jets are doing an overhaul. The Aaron Rodgers experiment didn’t work out, so they are trying new things. After all, Justin Fields is the new quarterback. It’s a new system, with new coaching staff, and all that means a new offensive identity in the NFL.

The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt covers the Jets in a very specific way. In his latest reports, he said “it would not shock me if the Jets went from last to first in terms of rushing attempts,” which is a whole new identity compared to last season.

Rosenblatt went on to report that running back Braelon Allen will “have plenty of opportunitiesto step up in his game. Breece Hall will still be the first running back on the depth chart, but Allen can become a good, relevant part of the offense.

Allen can become the star needed in this Jets offense

Allen finished his rookie season with 92 carries and 334 yards. He also added 2 touchdowns to his tally. However, it seems like what new head coach Aaron Glenn wants to instill a similar model to the Detroit Lions one. After all, that’s what Glenn did see when he was in Detroit. There, they run an elite committee with David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. Allen can be the Montgomery to Hall’s Gibbs.

The new offensive coordinator, Tanner Engstrand, was the tight ends coach and passing game coordinator for the Detroit Lions, so he knows the playbook well. Also, he will have a mobile quarterback in Justin Fields. This opposes Aaron Rodgers‘ style. The better you run, the better the passing game opens up as well.

The Jets are in need of an explosive offense

When you talk about great offenses, the New York Jets are not in the discussion. With this new coaching staff entering the team, they are determined to change that. The Jets have talented players, but have been under serious coaching malpractices.

Hall, Allen, and when you add the receiving pieces, it is even better. Garrett Wilson is one of the best receivers a team could have, and they drafted Mason Taylor as a tight end in the second round, which will give Fields a short-route target. The Jets might be close to turning their reputation around.
