Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers opened the 2025 season with a win on the road against the New York Jets. The victory was a clear message that, despite all the criticism in the offseason, this team can be a playoff contender.

The veteran quarterback used all the weapons at his disposal, especially DK Metcalf and Calvin Austin III. Additionally, as he had warned, the depth at the tight end position was key.

However, in a negative aspect of Week 1 for Pittsburgh, one of their players was fined by the NFL after an unnecessary play that cost the team a 15-yard penalty for a personal foul.

Who is the Steelers player that was fined after game against Jets?

Connor Heyward of the Steelers was fined $6,327 for a late hit on Isaiah Davis during a kickoff return in the game against the Jets. The referees deemed the action unnecessary roughness with 11:27 remaining in the third quarter.

Heyward was heavily criticized by fans on social media, as that kickoff return would have given the Steelers excellent field position while they were trailing 19-17 at a key moment in the second half.
