Brian Daboll is on a crucial spot as his job as the New York Giants head coach might be on the hot seat. To save that, he depends on new quarterback Russell Wilson to ball out. For Wilson to do so, he needs elite wide receiver to be available. It’s all a domino effect.

The second-year receiver suffered a shoulder injury earlier in the camp but, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Daboll stated that Malik Nabers is “good” and ready to return to practice.

Nabers is key for this offense. Last year, there were few silver linings for the Giants offense. Having said that, Nabers was a shining piece. The former LSU Tiger had a stellar rookie year where he made the Pro Bowl and had 1,204 yards on 109 catches and added 7 touchdowns. Now, he will have a better quarterback to work with in Wilson, which means he should be even better.

Wilson is on a resurgence path in the NFL

Two years ago, Russell Wilson was on a destructive path to his legacy. His two-year stint at Denver was really bad. He racked up an 11-19 record there, and completed a mere 63.3% of his passes. He was shipped unceremoniously out of the building. But then he got to Pittsburgh.

He played 11 games for the Steelers with a 6-5 record and made the Pro Bowl again. Wilson threw for 16 touchdowns and only 5 interceptions and made the Playoffs. Now, with Aaron Rodgers there, Wilson found a new home on the Giants, but now he’s looked at as a huge upgrade, not a salvation project.

Who else can shine on the Giants offense?

Besides Wilson and Nabers, there are other names that can become crucial for this offense. One of those is running back Tyrone Tracy Jr., who as a rookie started 12 games with the Giants and racked up 839 yards and scored 5 touchdowns. He is poised to have a massive second season for the G-Men.

As for others, it’s new rookie running back Cam Skattebo creating a bit of hype. Skattebo is highly charismatic and energetic. He was stellar in College, especially in 2024, where he had 293 attempts and 1,711 yards with 21 touchdowns for Arizona State. Skattebo is an angry runner with plenty of strength to run through contact. He should be able to earn snaps and make the most of them in this NFL season.
