Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr has been sent home by the team ahead of Thursday’s practice. A couple of days before the Browns clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the NFL week 5, Beckham Jr didn’t participate in practice due to an undisclosed illness.

Browns’ head coach Kevin Stefanski revealed that Beckham was sent home from the team facility due to this mysterious illness. Stefanski made it clear that it wasn’t COVID-19 but the organization decided to send Beckham Jr home out of an “abundance of caution” with the league’s COVID-19 protocols.

OBJ hadn’t tested positive for COVID-19 and they made sure to test him again before finally sending him home. The result of this test will be available on Friday. Stefanski talked about all the protocols the team is following, always trying to take care of the health of players and staffers.

“You have to be careful,” said Stefanski. “I don’t want to assume anything, but with all of our guys we just want to follow the protocols and be safe.”

Beckham Jr can miss Sunday’s game

The Browns are entering a big weekend where they’ll face the powerful Pittsburgh Steelers, trying to surprise the Black and Gold. Now they could face them without Odell, who had a terrific game against the Dallas Cowboys two weeks ago.

Beckham has stated that he feels happy being part of this team after a couple of rough seasons with the New York Giants, the team that originally drafted him.

“Coming from college into the league, it’s just a completely different life. I feel like college was an intro and it was just right before the social media era and all that stuff so it’s just a different day and age now and I think this is probably one of the best spots I’ve been in,” he said.

Test results will be available on Friday and everybody in the organization will hope to see a negative one. Still, whatever is bothering Odell right now can leave him out of Sunday’s game, something that would hurt his team.
