USMNT youth prospect and Chicago Fire goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina has interest from two big European giants

The 17-year-old goalkeeper began his professional journey last season with the MLS side and now has been compared to Jan Oblak.

The Chicago Fire’s Gabriel Slonina has been a pro for a long time, even at his young age of 17, the homegrown product signed with the MLS side at 14, becoming the second youngest signing in Major League Soccer history. Since 2019, Slonina has been working hard as a pro and in 2021 made the leap to the Fire’s first team.

In 2021, Slonina played in 11 games for the bottom of the table Fire, making 46 saves and recording 4 shutouts. His amazing displays for such a young player have begun to attract the attention of various clubs in Europe that are now looking towards MLS to get talent.

According to Tuttosport, Slonina, who has also played for the USMNT U-15- U-20 sides, has attracted the attention of Juventus and Manchester United. Here is more on this goalkeeping prospect.

Born in Addison, Illinois, and having gone through the USMNT youth ranks, Gabriel Slonina is a full-blown professional with the Chicago Fire. He is the youngest goalkeeper to record a shutout in Major League Soccer history. Because of his height, Slonina is being touted as the “new Oblak”.

The Tuttosport report claims that Juventus will need to act fast to sign the young keeper as Manchester United is also sniffing around and looking for a goalkeeper to replace David De Gea. Slonina could run between $3- $5 million in transfer fee.
