According to Steve Belichick, Bill’s son, his father could join a television broadcast for the 2024 season. It was previously rumored that several channels were interested in hiring him, and now may be the perfect time to do so.

“Really right now everything is on the table and we’re still working through that process. When that time comes, I’m sure it will be a collaborative effort and I’m sure we’ll make the right decisions,” Van Pelt said.

<h2>Patriots have a big decision to make</h2>



The Patriots have struggled since <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/tom-brady">Tom Brady</a> left in 2020, and even though Jones had a promising rookie year, his performances went downhill the next two seasons. Now he’s in a contract year, and what the team will do next with him is unclear.



New England has an interesting chance to rebuild as it holds the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Many expect the Pats to use it for another quarterback, as Jones took many steps back in 2022 and 2023.



The franchise finished bottom of the AFC East with a 4-13 record last year, missing the playoffs for the second straight campaign. With Brady gone, they only made the postseason once, during Jones’ rookie season.

Stevenson, 25, aims to become the Patriots’ primary option on the ground. While an ankle injury ended his season prematurely last year, the Oklahoma product also faced competition in his three seasons at Gillette Stadium, with James White, Damien Harris, and Ezekiel Elliott at his position.



But now that he’s been left as the most experienced player in a young RB room, Stevenson wants to prove his worth as his four-year, $4,229,056 contract expires at the end of 2024. He hopes the rest of his teammates can contribute as well, but Stevenson wants to lead the way.

“Tom and I had a number of discussions about how Bill treated him. Tommy is very sensitive. He was always looking for Bill’s approval, almost in a father-son kind of way. And that’s not Bill’s style ever to give that,” Kraft said, per The Athletic.



It’s not a secret that Coach Belichick runs a military-like system. He’s never been warm or even polite to the media, and things weren’t that much different with his players.



That’s why Brady himself admitted that his decision to leave Foxboro wasn’t motivated by money or anything like that. There simply was no way he was going to sign up for more of the mistreatment and disrespect:

“I’m not one to hire (coaches),” Brady said on his ‘Let’s Go’ podcast, via NFL.com. “I don’t know the criteria for hiring these guys, for hiring coaches. I’ve never been a part of it. I mean, I’m surprised that the greatest coach ever doesn’t have a job, absolutely. But I’m surprised (by) a lot of things in the NFL.”



Brady spent most of his career under Belichick, with whom he formed one of, if not the best quarterback-coach duo in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl">NFL</a> history. Together, they were the faces of the Patriots dynasty that won six <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/super-bowl">Super Bowls</a> in two decades.



That makes Belichick the most successful coach of all time, which is why it makes so much noise to see him fail to land a head coaching job for 2024. Many would have expected Belichick to have plenty of offers on the table, but it hasn’t been the case. While Brady cannot explain how the hiring process of a coach works, he knows what is like to hit the open market in the NFL.

“When I was a free agent, there (were) a lot of teams that didn’t want me,” Brady said. “… There (are) a lot of things that happen that, for one reason or another, don’t go exactly the way you think they should go.”

<h2>Brady, Belichick fare differently after breakup</h2>



Brady’s departure from Foxborough in 2020 proved to be a turning point for everyone affected by the change. While for the quarterback it meant an opportunity to prove his doubters wrong, it turned out to be a painful loss for Belichick and the Patriots.



Brady immediately settled in at the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/tampa-bay-buccaneers">Tampa Bay Buccaneers</a>, leading the team to Super Bowl victory in his very first season away from New England. The Patriots, on the other hand, failed to make the playoffs that year. And it only went worse.



Though the organization seemed to be getting back on its feet in 2021, when rookie quarterback <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/mac-jones">Mac Jones</a> gave reasons for optimism by leading the team to its first postseason appearance since Brady left, it didn’t take long for everything to fall apart.



<h3>Belichick fails to succeed without Brady</h3>



Jones and the Patriots’ offense took many steps back in 2022, as the franchise finished the season with a losing record to fall short from a playoff berth again. The worst was yet to come, as 2023 proved to be such a terrible year that it ended with Belichick’s time at Gillette Stadium.

The Patriots finished bottom of the AFC East at 4-13, the worst record in the Belichick era, and the coach paid the price for it. While Brady continued to find success in Tampa Bay by making the playoffs in all three seasons with the team, the best Belichick could do without him was a Wild Card appearance in four years.

That lack of success without Brady, in addition to his age (71 years old) and authority he got used to having at the Patriots may have been reasons why teams passed up on Belichick this offseason. The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/atlanta-falcons">Falcons</a> interviewed him twice, but ended up hiring Raheem Morris.

It is true that Eli is widely regarded as Brady’s biggest rival during his career. Tom was unable to defeat him in the most important game of the season, with Manning delivering remarkable performances while competing for the Vince Lombardi trophy.



This beef between Manning and Brady is not new. Eli has mentioned multiple times that the seven-time Super Bowl champion is upset with his mother because, if not for her, he would have finished his career with two more rings.

The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/kansas-city-chiefs">Kansas City Chiefs</a> are a rising dynasty in the NFL. With four Super Bowl appearances in the last five years (on Sunday they’ll pursue the third ring in this process), <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/patrick-mahomes">Patrick Mahomes</a> and company are defining an era like the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/tom-brady">Tom Brady</a>-led <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/new-england-patriots">New England Patriots</a> did earlier this century.



But apart from their dominance, what these dynasties have in common is that their success didn’t sit well with the rest of the league. Mahomes is aware that most neutral fans are rooting against the Chiefs this year, which reminds him of the opposition the Patriots faced back in the day. However, the 28-year-old expects his team to handle it differently.



“I know the Patriots had that for a while. I’m hoping we do it in a different way with a little bit more fun and personality with it,” Mahomes told Jeff Darlington of ESPN when talking about the villain status his success in Kansas City has created in other fans’ eyes.



Mahomes and company have seen how other fan bases were rooting for their opponents throughout the playoffs, especially in the AFC Championship Game, when the possibility of seeing Kansas City in yet another <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/super-bowl">Super Bowl</a> became even more real. Being the villain is not what the Texas Tech product wants, but if that’s what it takes to continue succeeding, it won’t be a problem.

“I can definitely sense it,” Mahomes said. “I never felt like that because I’ve never been like that in my entire life. But it’s become a little bit funny. I don’t want to say you enjoy it. But as long as you keep winning, teams start to not like you, and I want to keep winning. So if that means some of the other teams and other fan bases aren’t going to like me, I’ll try to still have a smile on my face and not be a bad example, but I can be that villain for them if they need me to be.”

<h2>Unlike Brady, Mahomes goes from beloved to villain</h2>



Brady and his Patriots made a lot of enemies during their period of glory, especially due to controversial episodes such as the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl/the-true-story-behind-tom-brady-and-the-deflategate-scandal-20200915-0014.html">Deflategate scandal</a>. For years, the 199th pick in the 2000 NFL Draft was dubbed as a “system” quarterback, with people underestimating his influence on the Patriots’ succeess while crediting all the Super Bowl rings to head coach <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/bill-belichick">Bill Belichick</a>. Of course, others went even further by claiming New England was favored by the officials.







But eventually, Brady seemed to change the narrative around his image. All it took was to leave New England and prove he could succeed elsewhere. Though Bill Belichick is one of the greatest coaches in NFL history, the downfall began when he took over general manager duties for the Patriots. Of course, letting go Tom Brady was the beginning of the end. Now, after a tremendous relationship, the letter represents an emotional closure with fans. 


 

 


“You were undaunted by weather, attended scorching hot training camp practices and braved Foxborough’s coldest, wettest, snowiest and windiest days. Your thoughtful letters offered support, critique and creative play suggestions. You watched on TV, the internet and from your stadium seats.”

<h2>What will be the next team of Bill Belichick?</h2>



The&nbsp;Washington Commanders&nbsp;were the only team without a head coach in the&nbsp;NFL, but that spot has been filled with Dan Quinn. Another option vanished when the&nbsp;Seattle Seahawks&nbsp;confirmed the arrival of&nbsp;Mike Macdonald, who was sensational as defensive coordinator of the&nbsp;Baltimore Ravens.

These were the franchises which announced new head coaches:&nbsp;Jerod Mayo (New England Patriots), Dave Canales (Carolina Panthers), Raheem Morris (Atlanta Falcons), Brian Callahan (Tennessee Titans), Mike Macdonald (Seattle Seahawks), Dan Quinn (Washington Commanders) and&nbsp;Jim Harbaugh (Los Angeles Chargers).



Furthermore, three teams confirmed major decisions about their current situation.&nbsp;Mike McCarthy&nbsp;will stay with the&nbsp;Dallas Cowboys, the Pittsburgh Steelers will extend Mike Tomlin’s contract and&nbsp;Antonio Pierce&nbsp;is no longer interim as he’ll take over the Raiders’ job permanently.

Recently, Tom Brady Sr. shed some light on what transpired between him and his son, and while he admits that Belichick is an elite coach, he also thinks he’s not good with people and has a bit of an ego.

<h2>Tom Brady’s Father Rips Bill Belichick’s Interpersonal Skills</h2>



“Bill is tough,” Brady Sr. said. “He runs a military system. It’s a different generation. Bill is a great, great, great coach. But his interpersonal skills are horrible. That’s the bottom line. How many times has he said — back in ’15 or ’16 — that he wanted to win without Tommy? When he went without Tommy, he didn’t know what he was losing. You’re losing more than just a quarterback. Ego sometimes gets in the way of things. I think it did with Bill. Now, he’s in a situation where he’s gotten crucified for the last few years by everybody and a lot of luster has come off his rose.”



Belichick infamously wanted to trade Brady multiple times. Brady resented him and felt disrespected, and he went on to win another Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.



The Patriots, on the other hand, became a bottom-feeding team and haven’t even won a playoff game since he left. Now, no one seems to be even slightly interested in giving Belichick the keys to their team.



<h2>Kraft Apologized For His Mistake</h2>



Belichick was the one who convinced Robert Kraft that Brady was done, which was a breaking point in their relationship that eventually led to his dismissal. At least the team owner reached out to the Bradys with a mea culpa:

“He just said, ‘I made a mistake.’ He told us that back in September,” said Brady Sr. “We don’t all make the right decisions, but he’s made a hell of a lot of good ones over the years. But I know that it galls him that Tommy went elsewhere and won. Not that he won, but that he won after Bill said he was done.”

At the end of the day, no one can take anything away from Bill Belichick and all the things he accomplished in this league. But given his reputation of mistreatment of players and his determination to call all the shots, it’s not much of a surprise to see so many doors closing right before his eyes.
