The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nebraska">Nebraska Cornhuksers</a> is struggling in the Big Ten this season. After a promising start, the Huskers seem to be running out of fuel and the offensive has been an ongoing headache. Quarterback <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/dylan-raiola">Dylan Raiola</a> did not ignore the elephant in the room and put the blame where it was due. 



Nebraska is currently on a harsh offensive drought. The team has failed to score a passing TD in their last three <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ncaa">NCAA</a> outings. After the 21-17 loss to Ohio State, much of the blame was put on the offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield. However, Raiola bit the bullet and argued who should be held responsible, instead.



“I know Coach Satt’s getting a lot of heat right now of the plays he’s calling, and I think that’s unfair to him. He can’t go out there and make plays and do everything he’s coaching us to do,” Raiola said, per the Omaha World-Herald. “As players, and as quarterback of this offense, I take the responsibility for that.”



Raiola’s stats during the last three-game span has left fans scratching their heads. Over the contests against Rutgers, Indiana, and Ohio State, the freshman QB has passed for an average of 173.3 yards, with no touchdowns and five turnovers.

<h2>Raiola speaks on Bowl game aspirations</h2>



The Huskers currently boast a 5-3 record in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-football">college football</a>, meaning they are one win away from earning Bowl eligibility. However, the current trend is demoralizing for the program who has not featured in a Bowl game in eight years. Raiola made an honest admission on what it would mean for him to get Nebraska into that promised land.

“Before practice, I actually heard someone say there hasn’t been a bowl game in eight years or something like that,’ Raiola said, per On3. “I think getting the fans a guaranteed another one more game, possibly more being in the playoffs, would mean a lot to this fanbase. 



“They’ve been through a lot and they’ve been really loyal. So, it would mean a lot to everybody to get to a bowl game. I knew but when it struck me before practice, it kind of hit me a little different.”

The UCLA Bruins visit the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the NCAA’s week 10. As they gear up to face Matt Rhule’s program, led by Dylan Raiola, the Bruins HC DeShaun Foster made something clear on the QB and his linking to <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl">NFL</a> star Patrick Mahomes.



Both programs boast losing records and are in difficult situations in the Big Ten. UCLA holds a 1-4 mark (in league play), while <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nebraska">Nebraska</a> is 2-3. A win on Saturday could help bring momentum into campus and stay on the hunt for a Bowl appearance. However, neither team has looked too good lately and their seasons are coming to a sad ending.



Ahead of the game, the Bruins coach talked about the opposing QB and mentioned the comparisons to <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/patrick-mahomes">Mahomes</a>. 



“I was with Pat Mahomes in ’16 at Texas Tech. So it’s crazy when you see him (Raiola) because yeah, he really does emulate Pat,” Foster stated, via On3. “You can tell he’s getting more comfortable. He has a big arm so he’s gonna try to make plays, but I’m excited for our DBs, and our front, and our linebackers, and everybody. He’s playing good ball.”

<h2>Nebraska’s hopes came crashing down</h2>



The Cornhuskers had a promising start to the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ncaa">NCAA </a>season, however, the wheels have come off apparently in Rhule’s team. The Huskers are undefeated when facing non-ranked opponents, but have yet to defeat a Top-25 side.

That may tell everything there is to know on this Huskers team. They are a mid-tier team, good enough to take care of business against inferior competition, not great to take down the apex competitors.



Nebraska’s hopes in the Big Ten burned down to ashes, but they are one win shy from being Bowl eligible. Therefore, they still have meaningful games ahead and against <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ucla">UCLA</a> on November 2nd they’ll have a big test to snap their two-game losing streak.



<h2>Raiola’s stats</h2>



Through eight games, the Huskers QB has completed 66.1% of his passes, throwing for 1,744 yards, nine touchdowns and seven interceptions. A concerning trend has brewed over in Raiola’s last three appearances. The Huskers have zero passing TDs and five picks thrown in the games against Rutgers, Indiana, and Ohio State.



On the first five games of the year, Raiola looked sharp and threw for 9 touchdowns and two interceptions. Since, his production has depleted and the Huskers have suffered from it.

The offensive production, or lack of, has been a worrisome sight in Nebraska’s recent outings. The defense has given them possessions but the offense is simply coming out flat. After another disastrous day for Raiola and the weapons on the offensive side of the ball, OC Marcus Satterfield has been the target of critics. However, the QB took responsibility.

Patrick Mahomes had his best college football season in 2016, the current <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/kansas-city-chiefs">Kansas City Chiefs</a> star started on 12 games, completing 65.7% of his passes. Mahomes threw for 5052 yards, 41 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

The rivalry between the Colorado Buffaloes and Nebraska Cornhuskers has intensified since Deion Sanders‘ arrival in Boulder. Quarterbacks <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/shedeur-sanders">Shedeur Sanders</a> and Dylan Raiola have embraced the animosity, with tensions between the two stars remaining evident, even though their last matchup occurred in early September. This time around, Raiola took a discreet dig at Shedeur when asked about his favorite NCAA QBs to watch.



Raiola seems to have the upper-hand over Sanders in their dispute. Nebraska handed Colorado their first loss of the season on September 7. It was an ugly loss for the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/colorado-buffaloes">Buffaloes</a>, which only got uglier after <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/sports/ncaaf-news-shedeur-sanders-sends-harsh-message-to-teammates-after-colorado-buffaloes-loss">Shedeur’s harsh message to his teammates after the game</a>. To add insult to injury, the Huskers celebrated to the tune of Shedeur’s ‘Perfect Timing’ song, and posted pictures mocking his signature celebration. When it rains it pours.



Nebraska and Colorado each went their separate ways, in the Big Ten and Big 12, respectively, and that was the end of it. Or so we thought. The bad blood between both schools, and their quarterbacks, re-emerged during a recent interview to Raiola. The Huskers signal-caller was asked on his favorite QBs to watch in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-football">college football</a>.



“I mean Dillon Gabriel’s impressive, just what he does with the ball,” <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/dylan-raiola">Dylan Raiola</a> said, per On3. “I’m always pulling for him. You know, he’s a Polynesian quarterback, so love watching him succeed. There’s so many great quarterbacks. Jalen Milroe, Cam Ward. There’s a lot of talent in college football. It’s a lot of fun to watch.”

Raiola emphasized the talent at the quarterback position in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ncaa">NCAA</a>, yet he never mentioned Shedeur Sanders, who is widely expected to be one of the first QBs taken in next year’s draft. While it’s true that other great players were also snubbed and the list reflected Raiola’s subjective preferences, it seems odd that Sanders was left out, especially considering the history between the two.

<h2>Big match ahead for Raiola</h2>



<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nebraska">Nebraska</a> currently boasts a 5-1 record (2-1 Big Ten) and will visit No. 16 Indiana Hoosiers (6-0, 3-0 Conference) in a pivotal match for the conference. A win for Matt Rhule’s Huskers could earn them Top-25 votes, as well as help them escalate in the stacked Big Ten standings. 



The schedule does not get any lighter for the Cornhuskers after their road-game against Indiana. On October 26, they will face the Ohio State Buckeyes, as they make their way to the ‘Mother of Presidents’ State. These games will be huge tests for Raiola, who ranks tenth for passing yards in the Big Ten (1,358 yards), along with nine touchdowns and three interceptions.
